RE: How To Use PLANTS To Take Care Of Your Garden

in #gardening6 years ago

so did the clover just grow UP...and create a nice dense mat of ground cover? one way..i've created a soil skin layer...while growing clover of other ground covers...is to lightly coat/shake straw...into the growing clover mat....and it grows. this slowly creates a bed of straw that the clover is growing ...through. this added layer...of protection from the sun...allows for more critters that eat gnats...to create a home. straw is just so bad ass...for short term soil/skin layers.

Sort:

i use white dutch clover. not sure what one is in your mix. this variety grows much shorter stalks. makes nice thick mulch layer....meshed with that straw layer i described. not too tall like other clovers. gosh...bro..i looked like heaven in there. so much love in that grow! felt!

Oh we've put lots and lots of barley straw out here it is either taken by The Byrds or the soil eats it up. So far the wood chips have been the best solution so far but we still need to test our soils which should be interesting

yah...i feel ya on that. lol...those birds..love to use it for nesting. for sure bro...have a landscape company...or tree trimmer dump a truck load of chips... on your driveway...and just top coat all that goodness now. curious how your tests will look off in a corner of the yard...that has been covered with chips for awhile. love all you're doing bro....just thanks for sharing it!

lol...the soil or the birds eat it up.... ;) that's some hungry ALIVE soil bro!!!! watch out birds....it just may eat YOU!

Yeah the white Dutch clover is what we have been buying from https://buildasoil.com

sweet! that guy is so ON IT!!!!!
