MY BEST ADVICE TO START GARDENING
When harvests like this start coming in, it can really inspire you!
Upon reaping such a harvest, it made me reflect on the fact that those who've never tried to grow any food have never gotten that feeling. That thought was what inspired this motivational video, which I think will inspire new gardeners and "gardeners to be" to give it a try and stick with it!
NEW GARDENER ENCOURAGEMENT VIDEO
For those of you who do not watch the videos, I'll clue you in. Basically, there are crops like radishes and spinach that can grow from seed to harvest in a month or less. Since the harvest inspires more planting, the best thing a new gardener can do is try to grow a short season crop that'll produce rapidly. Rather than waiting around and taking care of a plant for four months or more in hopes of getting a crop, plants with a shorter growing time can provide a much quicker ROI and help encourage new gardeners by letting them know that they can grow! If you've never tried gardening yet, find a plant that grows quickly to try first, and let it encourage you to continue!
As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

your advice tottally right. As a villager we plant many kinds of vegetables.
for friends who want to try gardening steemian planting media, can choose on the ground, or pots. Mix the soil with manure let one day. make trenches ditit as a place to sow seeds. then spread the desired vegetable seeds. notice in a few days it will be seen seeds germinate and sprinkle with water. keep an eye out for no snails, caterpillars or other pests that will eat vegetables.
for fast-harvested plants such as:
caisim / green mustard can harvest 40 days from seeds.
both red and green spinach can harvest in 25 days
long bean can be harvested 45
or other local vegetable or other crop which can be harvested in short time.

Upvoted for visibility! Thanks for sharing about those plants!
You’d be a great pot grower with those skills ! 👍😆
I agree that growing in pots has its advantages for beginning gardeners and anybody without a lot of space. Urban dwellers should get a pot as soon as possible, and fill it with high quality soil and some compost. If compost is not fully processed it can burn new plants.
Right! I used to grow in pots a lot more when we lived in the city. These days, it's directly into the soil with the plants.
Yeah, I used to grow in pots, but now that we have the land, I plant directly into the soil! Thanks!
You are so right @papa-pepper! Seeing a return on your efforts is exciting. Perhaps you know, we have 21 people taking refuge in our compound (a walled homestead) and our gardens certainly make a huge difference to feeding these many people healthy food. When we first started harvesting about a month ago, people got really excited and started planting more. These are folks who have never gardened in their lives! So with the enthusiasm and the work everyone is putting in, we should be able to survive the hard times that are sure to continue for some time. Thanks for providing the motivation for folks who may be a little timid about starting to garden!
Oh yeah! It certainly has that effect! Thanks for vouching for me! LOL - Keep it up, you're a blessing!
Thank you, @papa-pepper!
Cool, all your hard work can already be harvested,
Oh yeah! Thanks my friend!
Your welcome.

Thank you! I love the taste of homegrown food!

That's good advice. Any time you can start experiencing the sweetness of the fruits of your labor, then you're encouraged to do more. I like that. I hadn't really though about doing short-season crops. I just planted ones that I wanted to eat. The sugar snap peas have been delicious thus far. :)
Nice! Peas are always great fresh from the garden!
It's nice when you can just walk out and pick veggies fresh. You don't even need to wash them to eat them. Just gobble them up. That's my favorite way to eat them.
I harvested some mulberries last night for my grandbabies to try today. Gonna have to fill the bowl up next time.
They look wonderful! We hope to start growing our own soon, and mulberries propagate really easily too!
We lucked out that our property already has at least 4 mature trees/bushes. 3 I would call trees one I would call a bush. We also have wild mint and a family of foxes. Working on getting a new lens for my camera so I can get clear photos of them currently from my kitchen window it is too far with the lenses I have so the one I have gotten are very grainy. We are discoverying much more than we expected. Hoping as we clear out the japanese honeysuckle we find more surprises..
You gave us an important advice for making a garden. But do you have own garden.New garden's encouragement video is so helpful. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
There is nothing more delicious than eating the things freshly harvested from the harvest is something different that no supermarket can give you freshness is different than the palate feels, I in particular had never experienced it but as you know I am from Venezuela and the economy here It is very bad I have learned thanks to you to cultivate many things and how to do them, as you are always my greatest example to follow in these things. I have a harvest of yucca, potato, sweet potato, tomato, coffee, mango, lemon, lechoza. And I'll go little by little I need a friend. A hug as always your Venezuelan friend
