Investment Gardening #2
The average last frost date in Butte, Montana is in July. Needless to say, this makes gardening especially difficult. Tizer Gardens in Jefferson City, Montana was recommended as a place to go to find plants that will survive here.
Not only is there a botanical gardens at Tizer here but also an arboretum and a nursery. One my discoveries at this nursery was an alternative to blueberries called "haskaps". I've already planted some blueberries, but it has been suggested that they will struggle here in the northern Rocky Mountains.
Wikipedia tells me that the scientific name for haskaps is Lonicera caerulea and is also known as honeyberry, blue-berried honeysuckle, and sweetberry honeysuckle.
