Planting Dragon Fruit Cutting
Simple steps to plant a dragon fruit cutting
Some things you'll need
1 dragon fruit cutting (larger, mature stems flower sooner)
1 bag of cactus soil
1 bag of topsoil
1 large pot ( 6.5 gallons or larger, more tall than wide)
1 5 ft support stake
1 plant ties
Using a one to one ratio of catcus soil and top soil, fill up the pot. Leave roughly 3-4 inches from the rim.
Insert the stake, slightly off center.
Place the bottom of the stem on the soil, do not bury.
Adding in roughly an inch to an inch and a half of the 50/50 mix
Give one quart of water around the planted stem. Do not put the water at the base of the stem as this can cause the base to rot. We want to promote root growth.
Dragon fruit is a succulent, it does not yet need heavy watering and the soil cannot be overly moist.
i grow this on my house wall . and sometime the little spike really get to you when you walk pass.
haha yeah, really ahve to watch out for them. thankfully they are not as bad as many cactuses out there.
