The Beauty of Grafting
Our beautiful plum tree with a necatarine grafted onto it. Its our first fruit tree to ripen every year, giving us hundreds of juicy plums to start the season off with. Shortly after we've picked the last few plums, the nectarines begin ripening. A white fleshed, mouthwatering nectarine-the best Ive ever tasted. Every year the graft grows bigger & bigger and produces more & more. What was once a little stick with a few buds is now a branch able to support plenty of fruit. It is so worth the wait!
Grafting is such a rewarding experience. I think one of the most exciting times of the year is seeing which grafts are successful. Heres a peak at some of newest grafts this season:
^Peach grafted onto a peach we werent too fond of(when it comes to peaches were alittle spoiled, we have so many tasty varieties)
^ bud graft coming out.. this ones a Korean Giant asian pear.
^heres a second year plum grafted onto a peach already rewarding us with a harvest this year. The flowers look pollinated, so there should be lots of tasty plums.
