I have only one rule!
I have no idea who started that trend but it was a complete idiot. Sorry, but its true! You have those little plants growing for a year or two, ready to sell and then you take some dry or fake flowers and you treat the little plant with hot glue. Why??
No hot glue? Well take some pins and pin them then. Make multiple holes is a cactus. I am sure it will love it.
Some companies paint spray them to make it look all pretty and colorful.. please...
Every time I go to the supermarket I see those poor little things and every time I wonder why they do that? I know, I know.. to sell... Then people buy those because they are pretty and then the cactus dies or grows all deformed and with scars because it was all damaged.

Ok, I got thisginger beauty a few days ago :) No glued flowers, no worries. It was smiling to me so it went home with me. It is adjusting for now, no sun for him yet. Needs repoting and making sure no bugs came with it.
But look at those pretty copper spines! How could I resist it :) Of course it has no name so it is my Gingerhead for now.
But I do have a dilemma if it comes to this practice I was writing about.
- Buy the plant with the glue and pins, remove them and make sure it grow happily every after without that crap, or..
- Do not buy the plant with glue and pins because, because by buying it I support the stupid idea.
What would you do?

When I see these poor cacti with artificial flowers - everything revolts inside me !!!
And, if someone is going to buy such a cactus with me - I'm talking to him, discouraging him to buy such a cactus!
We should not support such sale and mockery of these poor plants!

For people that don't know they are glue they probably look pretty and colourfu. And they buy it. It is harming a plant and tricking customers!

Owhh... that's sad... it's like in China they hair dye baby chicks to sell.... the chicks don't last very long because of all the chemicals....
On the bright side, I'm sure that gingerhead of yours is happy because you brought it home. :)

I don't think so. Have never seen them with flowers attached to them with glue. I'll have to pay more attention from now on. :)
Have a look. It would be wonderful if you don't find any. Just the regular, spiky ones with no fake flowers.
there was a time when I saw a table with many little cactuses in a supermarket. there was a bright colorful flower on each. and every time I thought: its strange how could they make so young creatures to blossom at the same time? and colors didn't look natural at all.
I never bought them ... And then, someone told me the flowers are fake. but I'dn't believe they attach flowers by means of hot glue - its really cruel

Some I saw are stuck to the cactus with a needle. They basically nail them to the plant.
Don't buy them! If people keeps buying them, they will keep harming those poor cactus 😓

I'm not buying them, although I feel so sorry for those plants and misery of their lives. I have to admit that at first years of my cacti addiction I tended to buy sick plants to cure them, and once I bought cactus with glued flower on too. But I have overcome that kind of behavior. I can not walk around the world and correct bad deeds of all human kind. It is enough to be responsible for myself, for the beginning. ..

But I saw so tempted once! There was thing pretty little Gymno with smaller offshoots. And of nailed flowers on. Poor thing.
It could be. I asked on Cactus forum and got the same answer :) Very long spines comparing to the ones I see online, but it looks like a youngish one.
