Fall garden winding down....

in #gardening6 years ago

With the last of our giant green cabbage already fermented into sauerkraut, there may still be the odd zucchini hidden away in the garden.

As usual, the butternut squash harvest was bountiful. The late fall harvest always leaves the garden looking un-kept as we move on to pulling carrots and turnip.

The rain barrels are drained, cleaned and put away for winter storage.

We had a good year, as you can see from this summer photo, reminding us that our early spring efforts to come will be well rewarded.

But the work is not yet finished. All the gardens must be limed to balance the ph of our acid Atlantic soil.
And the garlic is still waiting to be planted...more on that in the next video.

We'll remain optimistic throughout the winter months as our cold frames will provide us with a bounty of fresh greens. Being able to grow our own food year round, even at higher latitudes provides a connection to the earth below our feet that will keep us going until the spring gardens again look like this!

Hi friend? if there is a lot of work on the farm to be done to plant again

Without a doubt, there is nothing more pleasant than cultivating and harvesting food that we are going to consume, so you have the knowledge of what you are eating and that is fresh.

This cabbage has a large size, I think it's very good for a salad, the courgettes have a different shape and color than the ones I live here, I like your courgettes more, I'm in love with the fresh and large vegetables that come out of your garden

I send you many greetings, at last I was able to see Candy is beautiful

Many thanks as always😊

It really is amazing to harvest all our own vegetables from the garden! Thanks for all your support 😊

My friend @brimax how are you? my greetings to @anise and Candy is beautiful, a few days ago I did not see you here

without a doubt this was a good year in your farm you had good harvest and those big and healthy vegetables, besides I also learned a lot from you, those barrels with rainwater are certainly a real help and more than now there are many water problems in my country but if there is a lot of rain, it would be good to implement that here

I'm impressed with the quality of those vegetables, great friend work on your farm

Rain barrels are a great way to supplement watering the garden while at the same time saving well water for drinking and cooking!

Hello Friend how are you? I am glad that the harvest of each vegetable turns out so well, you put a lot of effort, time and all your knowledge into those lands that give you good food, although there is a lot of work to do, it is worth every effort since it will be well rewarded.

I love seeing Candy in the videos she also puts a lot of her part since she is part of the family, please say hello Anis.

Thanks for the constant support!

Thank you! If I ever manage to get to Nova Scotia I would love to stop by for a little visit.

I love knowing about you, and at the same time I congratulate you for this year that was very productive for you, from experience I know that the work of the earth is not easy, it requires a lot of patience, love to plant, a dose of humor Once in a while it helps us to cope with our sowings to happy term. Blessed be your lands, that beautiful cabbage, and while @anise works laboriously Candy places its grain to collaborate with such a beautiful harvest. greetings and grateful for your important support for me, who renews my strength to move forward @brimax

Thank you for your continued support. You are appreciated 😊

I love your cold frame. It's great to have access to fresh greens throughout the winter! It's kind of sad to see the garden so bare, but it goes to sleep holding possibilities of greatness :) That's an awesome head of cabbage, too!!

This year we've got four cold frames on the go. This will hopefully keep us in greens through till spring! It is a little sad to see the garden like this, but we know the potential and that gives us great confidence!

Brother, how are you? I send you many blessings, it has been a good year and still missing so you are very blessed, you work hard with your wife and the faithful Candy so they surely deserve the admiration of many.

Thank you for all your support of what we do😊

When the harvest season arrives, it is certainly a very exciting time, especially if we get a good harvest. Congratulations on the results of your work so far.
