A few harvest photos!
Our mean picking season begins in July with early tomatoes and green beans. Of course we are harvesting leafy greens and fruits from much earlier. But we don't have a hoop house so heat loving plants like peppers cucumbers courgettes and tomatoes have to be planted outside later and start yielding later as well.
At some point in July we also start giving out fresh potatoes for eating. They are not good for storage. So we fry them on the barbecue! We continuously collect flowering herbs for tea and tinctures. Oregano is an old time favourite.
On the fruit side, I'd like to show you this old plum tree growing near the fence. It was grafted by a neighbour that has long ago passed away. Nobody knows the exact variety but it gives huge fruit, larger than a ping pong ball. And very delicious too, with a hint of apricot taste.
Those branches are at least 6m up. Our neighbours collect at least 100 kilos of fruit. They also give away plenty to other neighbours like us. And still in August you can see the ground around the tree covered in fruit. There is just too many!
The last photo shows the size of the plums and a beer cap for comparison!

Blessed by the abundance of Mother Earth!! Wowie! I really love green beans - I'm thinking I'd blanch them and make an amazing Greek salad with them and all those yummy tomatoes. Lovely post. :)
