What is the UCAT® Exam?
The University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT®) is a two-hour, multiple-choice exam taken on a computer. It’s designed to assess whether candidates have the right mindset, abilities, and behaviors needed for successful careers in medicine and dentistry. The UCAT® replaces the previous UMAT® exam and is required for most undergraduate medical programs in Australia, as well as some other health science and dental courses.
While detailed scoring information for UCAT® is still not fully available, you’ll receive your results immediately after you finish the test.
How the UCAT® Exam Works
The UCAT® consists of several timed sections, each testing different types of reasoning and problem-solving skills. These are known as subtests, and each is preceded by a brief one-minute break, during which instructions will be provided. The overall exam time continues to run, and you must complete all subtests within their allotted time.
Here’s a quick breakdown of each section:
• Verbal Reasoning: 44 questions in 21 minutes
• Decision Making: 29 questions in 31 minutes
• Quantitative Reasoning: 36 questions in 24 minutes
• Abstract Reasoning: 55 questions in 13 minutes
• Situational Judgement: 69 questions in 26 minutes
GradReady: Student Success

Students retaking the GAMSAT® after completing our course saw significant improvements:
• Score improvement: From 57.4 to 61.2
• Percentile increase: From the 40th percentile to the 60th percentile
This 20 percentile point jump is significant, even when assessed with 80% confidence intervals.
