My Thoughts on the new Pokken Fighters - Empoleon

So as a previous post said, I have finally obtained Pokken Tournament DX for my Nintendo Switch, and first thing I had to do was pick up the best starter evolution (available) ever, Empoleon. Definitely a combo king, with the Aqua Jet moves and Rock Smash lowering their defense allowing even greater damage, and Surf allowing you to keep that combo chain going, this Penguin is a force to be reckoned with!

That's Duel Phase. As for Field Phase, Ice Beam will most likely be your best approach option. If the button is held, you will slide forward quickly, and can even be comboed into something else. Grounded your best bet is Hydro Cannon, which causes immense damage if successful. But if they like to jump or counter, a tiny hop to Steel Wing will shut down their attempts pronto.

Now uses in both phases, midair X/Strong attack is amazing. It creates ice to slide and combo up with, like Ice Beam (which can also be used in both phases! Remember that!) and allows quick approaches.

Overall, excluding sentimentality, 8.5/10 from this user. Amazing combo potential, and absolutely lethal in the right hands (or flippers, as the case may be!) but the main downside is lack of aerial control and most combo's start up slowly. Be wary of Jumpy Braixen's and Charizards, and both Pika's alongside Weavile can prove bothersome.
