I remember getting the first Xbox as a present in 2002. What I remember most about it, was the design and weight. It wasn’t very pleasing to the eyes, and it was also very heavy. The controller was also way too big for my hands. However, all this changed with the release of the smaller Controller S, which was perfect.

Gaming on the Xbox was great and I enjoyed games such as; Beyond Good and Evil, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Burnout 3: Takedown, and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, to name a few.

I was very excited when I heard about the Xbox 360. This would be the successor to the first Xbox. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one, especially with the online feature of Xbox Live. And the amount of power that it would be able to deliver to gaming performance on a whole.
Over the time of me owning and playing the Xbox 360 as my main gaming console. I purchased a total of 3 units in my household alone. A new Xbox was bought each time an old one got the Red Ring of Death after the warranty had expired. This too happened to a number of friends and family members.
The last Xbox 360 that I bought was the slim model, the Xbox 360 S. This one didn’t develop the Red Ring of Death. And I also enjoyed this model more over the previous one, since it had built in Wi-Fi, meaning I could game freely around the house.
Many people like me bought another Xbox 360, since over the years the price when down and you could always find a good deal. So although the Xbox 360 suffered from a major designed problem, people were still willing to buy a new one, since the gaming experience was great, especially the online community.

When the Xbox One was announced I wasn’t very excited this time around, like I was with the Xbox 360. This was due to a number of reasons. For one, I wasn’t sure if this new system would suffer from some type of design problem, like before with the Xbox 360. I was also worried about the always online feature rumours, and the way in which pre-owned games would be handled.
I didn’t buy a Xbox One on release, but waited instead until the price went down. This was also beneficial to me, since by this time. Microsoft had changed many of its plans, such as the console always needing to be online, and the aspects of playing pre-owned games. This also allowed me the time to see if the console had any major design problems.
My original Xbox One console is still going strong today, which I am very happy about. This now opens the door to the following question;
Should I buy a Xbox One X?
The Xbox One X is entitled “The world's most powerful console” and claims to have 40% more power than any other console, and with true 4K gaming experience. Now all this is great, but I already have a Xbox One. That can still play the games that will be released on the Xbox One X.
It would be great to play games on a more powerful system, but when that system comes at a price tag of £449.99 ($499.99), you must consider your options.
I have owned every Xbox so far, so may consider getting the Xbox One X at a later date, probably when it falls in price, say a year from now.
Microsoft’s Xbox gaming systems have provided me with many hours of entertainment over the years. So, I will continue to watch and maybe, buy into the next step on their journey.
