How Not To Get Let-Down By Up Coming Video Games

in #gaming7 years ago

Are you excited about upcoming video games such as Need for Speed Payback, The Sims 4, Star Wars Battlefront II, Far Cry 5 and more. Well, here is how not to get let-down by them, or any other upcoming video games.

Start by not reading or watching anything, or as little as possible about the video game once you have gained some interest. So for example; Don't read any detailed articles on the internet or anywhere else, until you have obtain, played and beaten the game, maybe more than once.

This will help you to form your own opinions about the game, and not have anyone else's thoughts effect your perceptions of the final product.

Now if you are reading this and saying; "this is a silly idea, I cannot easily be influenced by the opinions of others". Then let me set the record straight.

Have you ever read about or heard about the mechanics or story behind a game, and instantly turned away? You have decided before playing it that the game is no-good, or at least some aspects of it.

You now approach the game with a negative attitude, and will now most certainly enjoy the game less than if you were in the dark about it.

It is in our nature to do this, and we all do this at some point in life. This is why, impressions about games should be decided upon way beyond the means of websites, and game critics to name a few sources.

If we really think about what a review is, we will find that it’s just someone’s opinion. And when you think about it a little deeper, an opinion is just that, an opinion. It doesn’t make it a fact, when a person gives their views on something. Plus people will always prefer one thing over another, which may be completely different to what you like.

Now, I am not saying that you will be disappointed by all games. If you were to base them totally on the opinions of others. What I am saying is that, you are far more likely to be disappointed, since you are judging the game on the opinions of others from the beginning.

There are many games that I would have missed out on, if I had followed the opinions of others in reviews. I have played games that did not get good reviews on a whole, but I when on to play them and in the end found them quite enjoyable, a good example of this being the game Homefront: The Revolution.

If you must, and cannot stop yourself from reading and watching all the news articles about a game you like. Then try to stick to sources that have shared similar views to you in the past. If you do this, you will at least get the information about the game from like-minded gamers.

Now go ahead and make up your own mind about games.
