Get Schwiffty!! Pokemon Meets Rick and Morty.

I saw a commercial for a mobile app with singing monsters a while back and thought it looked cool but never downloaded it. Yes, I don’t just play Xbox. :D A couple of nights ago I saw the commercial again and decided to give it a try. It was called My Singing Monsters. Fun game for the short time that I had it. The major issue that I had with it was I wasn’t interested in investing enough time to gain the monsters I needed to make a good song. I also wasn’t interested in buying my way to the monsters I wanted.
Deleting this game from my phone lead me to finding another, quickly addicting game that is reminiscent of Pokemon. It’s also based around a show that I love, Rick and Morty. The game is called Pocket Morty’s and is a product of Adult Swim. I had flashbacks to when I was a kid playing Pokemon on an old Gameboy Color during recess. Ahh, recess! Anyways, the game starts with Rick discussing a new invention to keep track of all the Morty’s they have interacted with throughout the different dimensions. Que a different Mysterious Rick with his Scruffy Morty. He quickly expresses how he wants to collect Rick’s Morty and how he looks like the Morty of legend. Battle ensues. All he actions and animation looks just like Pokemon battles in the days of old. You come across a Morty without his Rick and you are able to use a modified microchip to make him think you’re his Rick. Sound a lot like a Pokeball.

After you defeat Mysterious Rick’s Morty he makes a hasty retreat back through his portal. You and your Morty follow to find yourself in his dimension. You travel through and battle another Rick. He gives you a little more info by saying that if you defeat the Rick of that dimension you will receive a badge. Each battle levels up your Morty as well. When you find the Rick of that dimension and defeat him you receive a Badge. Mysterious Rick then says if you travel through the portal behind him it will take you back to your own dimension. It doesn’t, instead it takes you to the Citadel of Ricks where you are stripped of your portal gun and told to go to the lower levels of the Citadel to battle more Mortys. They tell you once you earn enough badges, you will be granted the chance to battle one of the Ricks from the Council of Ricks.

The portal area is filled with all the shops you need to prepare yourself for the approved dimensions to gain badges.

What is a mobile game without micro-transactions. Here it comes in the form of a Blips and Chitz Kiosk.

The in-game currency to purchase all of these are Schmeckles.

All in all, this game is becoming quickly addicting. The only issue that I have with the game so far is that there are not enough microchips that spawn in the world to collect more Mortys but I figure that will happen once I get my Mortys above a certain level. Beyond that I really like the game. If you like Rick and Morty as well as Pokemon, I highly suggest giving this game a try. Especially considering it is free to download.
