The Pubg - competitive problemsteemCreated with Sketch.

The game which stormed the steam charts!

By now everyone knows about Player Unknown's Battleground. It's not like the concept of the game is a new one or that the graphics are groundbreakingly insane. It's just fun to play.(So how does a nobody on the internet dare to say something against it?) The game itself has many issues which need to be fixed or changed but I'm not going to talk about them (for now). Instead, I'm going to talk about the "Competitive" scene and why PUBG isn't really exciting to watch in a tournament environment. Also, it rushed the steam charts like not many games have done before!

The Competitive live stream feeling

If you are like me who wants to see some action-packed scenes from the best of the best, then PUBG might not be what you are looking for in a tournament. Even if the game can be action-packed, (if you drop where many players are droping, it sure will be) it has its downtime included! After some short fights, at the beginning, you are going to loot alot, then if you are unlucky and don't find a vehicle and the zone is really far away, you need fortune on your side that no-one sees you running through the fields which, as you know, isn't fun to play or watch. So what exactly makes the feeling from a " League of Legends LCS Finals" more exciting/qualified than the PUBG Finals?

League of Legends has it quite easy to get the camera to the action, where you can see exactly what's going on. In PUBG there are 100 players going to play the game in the most competitively way possible so they won't just rush down enemies or "Yolo" into a house. So there are some reasons for doing some thinks even if it looks and plays unentertaining. Also the "Cameraman" needs to hold track about all the action and what is going, so 100 players on a huge map and knowing when to be where on the map with the camera can be tricky! Don't get me wrong, when the zone is much smaller, it will get more interesting and most definitely really fun to watch.

But in comparison to League of Legends or Dota the camera perspective isn't that appealing. I think the best part about E-sports is that you have the overview and know more about what's going on the game than the player how are playing. In Pubg as mentioned earlier it's quite hard to get that feeling in my opinion.

The solution?

There isn't really a solution to that the camera problem if the player - and map size stays the same as it is. It doesn't have to because the game is so popular it surely will get lots of viewers at the world championship.I just wanted to point out that there are flaws in the game that aren't bugs or mechanic issues.

Also, the servers are shit
