Tonight, I just want to share a little about what I do with my time anytime I'm not busy writing or doing other work. What I'm saying basically is that I'm gonna be sharing with you steemians what I use my leisure time for and why I love to use my time for it.

I PLAY CHESS

Aye! I play the game of chess at leisure and that's one of many hobbies I have. This post will be more of how I learned the game of chess and why I like to play chess but before I do that, I like to talk a bit about how chess came to existence.

In India, during Gupta Empire in the 6th century, its early was called chaturanga. chaturanga simply means four divisions of the military (infantry, cavalry, elephantry, and chariotry) represented by the pieces that would evolve into the modern pawn, knight, bishop, and rook, respectively. With time, chaturanga is now today known as chess.

HOW I GOT TO LEARN CHESS

It was on a glorious afternoon, back then in the year 2014, I went to visit a friend in his hostel room. oh! "you have a chess board", I said to my friend on seeing the beautiful chess board on his bed. He asked if I'd like to play with him. "I don't know how to move an inch on that board", I replied. He offered to teach me that day and I agreed, since I was bored and had nothing I was doing at that moment. I learn pretty fast and it also applied to me learning the game. After he showed me how the pieces moves and how they rank, he guided me through the rules (at least the ones I could understand at that moment), after which we played a few games. He bullied me on board as a pro would do to an amateur and after some games more, he said I've improved and that he's sure I can be better. That is how I learned to play chess.

WHY I LOVE THE GAME OF CHESS

Before I learned chess, I've heard about it being the game of the intellectuals and also heard it's a military game. These two have been key factors in my decision to learn the game and I wasn't disappointed when I learned it.
I've always like to get myself involve in activities that will challenge my reasoning capability and I found chess to be one of those activities. I love the fact that its rules are somewhat complex yet plain and standard.

What game do you love? reply!

P.S: If you've heard about the game of chess and you think it is not your thing, I advice you to get a good player of chess to teach you and you will love it.
