Zelda - Master Mode continued

A hooded figure is to the right if you as you exit the shrine if resurrection. He points you in a direction of a local area of suspicion and you head in that direction. You're in a wide open area in full open world mode. Because it's Master mode the easier monsters like red bokoblins aren't even around anymore as they have been replaced by Blue bokoblins. The easiest monsters around are still chu chus, although the smallest versions aren't seen anymore you only see larger ones. Link makes his way to the area and activates a console. Once this happens all the tires in the world Hyrule rise out of the ground and you are on the Great Plateau Tower.

image

While on top of the tower you activate a console. This is where you get to hear the famous Zelda treasure found music.

image

As the energy drifts down from the stone into your sheikah slate your map is updated with topographical markers.

image

From the top of the tower you're able to see Hyrule Castle. The castle is surrounded by wispy red and black smoke which moves like it's alive. This is what's known as calamity Gannon. This is the base that came around a hundred years ago and defeated link, Zelda, and the four champions.

image

From the tower you can see shrines nearby. There are four shrines in the great plateau and each Shrine gets you an ability that you'll use throughout the game. When a shrine is completed you were given a spirit orb which can be converted into a heart container or a larger stamina gauge.

image

Shrines are great puzzles and a lot of fun although slightly frustrating at times. The ones you encounter and the beginning though are fairly easy and allow you to explore your new abilities well. I also love the visual effect of the blue square around the shrine Guardian bursting into little blue flakes.

image

The normal loading screen has changed from white and black to red and black to constantly remind you that you are in master mode. In master mode enemies hit harder and when they aren't being hit they will regenerate health. You also find harder versions of monsters throughout the game.

image

Throughout the game you will find tons of these little guys. They are known as koroks. There are nine hundred of them in the game and they're not the easiest to find. They give you seeds you can trade to a korok named Hestu to expand your inventory.

image

This is a statue where you trade in spirit orbs for heart containers or an expanded stamina gauge. Very much the still mystical power granting Zelda that you remember from your youth.

image

As you finished the four shrines in the great plateau you return to the statue and in my case got a heart container. It is here that you meet the ghost of the king of Hyrule who explains the past loss against Gannon. He gifts you with a paraglider which allows you to foot to the ground without falling to your death. He then asks you to continue your duties and to save the kingdom of Hyrule from Calamity Ganon.

image

While you are getting things explained to you you are gifted with an awesome cut scene of the castle being enshrouded by Calamity Ganon. This is where the king explains that the four Champions were defeated by Calamity Ganon and that you and Princess Zelda were hunted by his Guardians.

image

You are left with a grisly tale and a large feat ahead of you. It's time to leave the great plateau and save Hyrule.

this game is beautiful. i'm thinking of getting the switch just for the sake of playing this game!

Its great! And there is a lot going for the switch with current and upcoming games. Once I actually get goibg with streaming I plan on showcasing games to spread the word. Juat ordered my microphone yesterday.

Thank you so much

This is probably THE best game ever up until today. What a wonderful experience it is. Everything about the is is good. It sucks you right in and it doesn't let you go until you've finally defeated Ganon.

What a pasterpiece. It was my main reason to buy the Switch and I've been happy about it ever since. My kids thank me as well as they play Lego City Undercover, Just Dance and Super Mario Kart 8 DL.

I think Super Mario Odussey will be a great game also.

Indeed I'm looking forward to that the new Monster Hunter and Cave Story Plus
