Welcome back to my Guild Wars 2 World vs World explanation. In this part, I will tell you about the fourth map: Eternal Battlegrounds.

In my first post, I told you about the borderlands maps. They are three maps that look the same (okay, there's a new one in rotation, but I'll talk about that later) and each of the three servers battling each other has its own home borderland. There is also a fourth map. This one is a little bit different from the others.

The Borderlands have three keeps which, ideally, are being held by the owner of the home border. This doesn't have to hold true, but it's what servers strife for. The Eternal Battlegrounds map also has three keeps. Each server's spawn point is near one of those keeps and they strife to always hold the keep closest to them. When upgraded completely, it provides them with a waypoint that is closer to the rest of the map than their spawn point, giving them a strategic advantage.

As with the other maps, Eternal Battlegrounds also holds objectives like towers and supply camps that can be captured. And as with the other maps, you'll want to hold as many objectives as possible.

Eternal Battleground differs in one major way though. The middle of the map holds a large castle.

Whoever holds this castle and manages to upgrade it fully, gains a waypoint in the middle of the map. This, ofcourse, gives a major strategic advantage, because it allows raids to quickly access any spot on the map. Other servers do not want you to have this advantage though, so it's fought over a lot and it's very hard to keep it long enough to upgrade completely.

The castle, like keeps, has two layers of defense, before raids can attack the castle lord. Players will either try to take it from close range, using flaming rams or catapults, or they will build a trebuchet (or multiple ones) inside their own keep or tower to weaken its walls from a safe distance.

Many big battles have been fought inside the castle's lords room, when all three servers are trying to get or hold this objective. It is a lot of fun, but can also be a source of frustration once the lag sets in and no one is able to use their skills anymore.

Many battles have also taken place in front of the castle gates.

I'd say Eternal Battlegrounds is the map on which you can most easily find big fights to join. Don't rule out the Borderlands completely though, as they are a lot of fun and there are certainly big groups roaming around there aswell.

More WvW info still to come in a later post!
