Console Gaming - Is IT Over?!
What makes console gaming unique, outside of a few exclusive titles? Really, let's think about this for a few moments.
Do you really believe that we couldn't just use "console" controllers to play the same games on the PC? We could also use our PC as something for work as well. Work and play in one. For the same price we would have paid for a new PS4 and XB1 when they launched, or the new versions now, we could get a decent gaming PC and have enough power to perfectly handle our workday.
With Mobile and tablet gaming rising as well, what incentive should we give consoles. The only one seemingly seeing this inevitability is Nintendo, with their portable console, which really combines the good aspects of mobile on a home console. Color me purple, but I think Nintendo's on to something.
And while the PS4 is smashing in sales right now, they need to also look out for the younger generations. They said they relied on Nintendo to bring in that crowd, but I think Sony and Microsoft should try to capture that crowd as well. They will be missing out.
But as consoles try to become PCs as time passes, they are doing a horrible job at it.
But what are your thoughts on this? Should consoles call it quits?
