Initial Review : South Park - Fractured But Whole

Finally, South Park: Fractured But Whole was released and in my opinion it was worth the wait. I have played over 8 hours on the game and it is still dishing out a whole lot of laughs.

I am not going to go into detail of the story line to spoil it for anyone. The game starts off following the latest episode of South Park about the boys in-fighting about their Super Hero series and movies releases. This brings about Civil War between Coon and Friends and Freedom Pals. All your achievements in the Stick of Truth is wiped clean. Like the previous title, you start off from scratch and complete main and side missions to strengthen your character and increase your following on Coonstagram.

The improvement in this sequel comes in the form of more detailed puzzles to reach backpacks and other mission items scattered across the map. Also, the addition of crafting makes it interesting to create new and better items as you progress in ranking. Another major improvement is the battle layout. It requires a more tactical approach when moving and dealing damage. In the stick of truth, after a while the battle becomes monotonous but in Fractured it keeps adding new elements that require some strategy to come out with a victory.

One disappointment when playing on console is when approaching characters in-game to talk or selfie, the menu is unstable whereby you need to keep readjusting your position to view and activate these functions. It can get a little annoying when you have side by side characters and keep engaging the wrong one.

All in all, the game does not disappoint. If you are not easily offended or follow the South Park regularly, then the comedy is just perfect. I will recommend this game to all as it is an epic game that provides an immersive 1st hand experience in the animated world of South Park.
