Greetings, nerdy travelers!

I've been in love with gaming as long as I can remember. It led to my 15 year old self playing Hearthstone, and stumbling into its early eSports scene back in 2013. Since then, I've been envolved in it in a lot of different ways, but spectating and rooting for my favorite gamers never stopped.

Eventually, in a sleepless nigth in 2017, I stumbled on to an incredible video that read "Classic Tetris World Championship Finals 2016". Up to that point, I had never heard of competitive tetris; but I fell in love with it. That video that I firstly saw features Jeff, an unique face that even stamps a shirt with an iconic saying from that same video "BOOM! Tetris for Jeff"; but the other legend that was playing in that game was named Jonas. I did not know at the time, but he was the six-time reigning champion, and would go on to win his seventh title that same year.

Jonas has unfortunately left us in 2021, and is up to this day the player with the most titles of CTWC, and his initial "J" is honored in the new design of the competition's trophy.

Maybe you have heard that, in the end of last year, a 13 year old player whose nickname is Blue Scuti became the first person to ever "beat Tetris", by playing up to a game crash after more than 40 minutes of play. The internet has a lot of content about all of these themes, and I definetely recommend you check it out!

For now, if you're lucky, you can still catch up to the Grand Finals of this year's edition, that's happening soon tonight, June 9th. The game-breaker Blue Scuti has been beaten in the Top8 by TrisTop, who has then been eliminated by the great AlexT, the former world-record holder for points, and back-to-back game crasher. In the other bracket, the two-time CTWC champion DogPlayingTetris has sweapt 3-0 Dengler advancing to the Grand Finals just a few minutes ago.

I dedicate this post to the memory of Jonas, and to all the amazing people throughout the world that aid to create so many amazing stories though gaming in so many ways. There is a gamer in everyone.
