GTA Online: A Modern Mad Max Playground

in #gaming7 years ago

Anyone who has played GTA V for any length of time will agree that the landscape of GTA Online has changed hugely since its release all the way back in 2013. For the most part, these changes have been great, with new vehicles and fun game modes, and the many options you now have in Free-roam. Rockstar has been very good at keeping the online component of their flagship game updated and enjoyable, and I can certainly appreciate that, especially since I’m one of the people who enjoy it.

The most recent set of updates that have come out in the last while have introduced a number of armoured and armed vehicles with which to wreak havoc across Los Santos. Let me start by saying, I love these vehicles. I don’t have enough in-game currency to afford any of them myself, but thankfully I have friends who do. Creating chaos with friends is one of my favourite things to do in free-roam, and these vehicles are just a catalyst.

This is what I mean by the game becoming ‘Mad Max-ed’ in a sense. All of the jacked up trucks and rocket powered motorbikes set the stage for a modern style wasteland of sorts, giving you all the tools to have fun and ker-splode everything around you.

However, with all of this power given to the players, it isn’t surprising that you get a couple of people who abuse this.

Usually other players stay out of the way, but there always seems to be one or two players in session who find great joy in destroying everyone else’s enjoyment. The number of times I have been cruising around, minding my own business just to have some dick swoop down in a flying motorcycle and rocket me, or roll up in an APC and blow me up, has frankly been a bit outrageous lately.

Granted, GTA Online has always been a volatile environment. The only real difference is the tools by which people grief.

In conclusion, I still enjoy GTA Online. The digital playground that Rockstar has created is a source of endless enjoyment assuming you have the imagination to conceptualise the next great thing, and I for one love the frequent updates and content that they add. Despite the fact that it’s a system that massively incentivises shark cards in favour of grinding for hours and hours to buy one item, I love the frequent updates and new content added to the game, and there is a lot of fun to be had with friends. Just stay away from those griefers.

But these are just a few of my thoughts, I would love to hear from you guys. Do you believe that the landscape of GTA Online is changing for better or for worse? And if you aren’t playing GTA, what game are you really enjoying at the moment? Let me know in the comments below. Until next time, stay beautiful.

GTA: Online is the pinnacle of online gaming, IMO. Me and my wife, while living on opposite sides of the globe, spent most of our time together in GTA while we waded through immigration paperwork. It ruled!

We got headsets and reigned supreme in our own personal little gang. We killed, we destroyed, we made friends, we raised pure hell!

Such an amazing piece of work . . .

Dude that sounds awesome! Sounds like an amazing experience and I'm glad you had someone to share it with, as that's what GTA: Online is really all about :D

It definitely was! Who knows, without it, that distance may have killed our relationship, but we were able to digitally exist in GTA Online, killing and killing and killing!

Nice game i also

I've played GTA V, but only the story mode. I've never been hooked on something so fast and for so long.

I probably should go buy the game just to experience the online part of the game.

I would man, Honestly I don't down vote you 'for fun' or 'because it's a scam', it's because you do this:

If you actually stopped, then I would stop (you can see I've let things slide on your account, flag-wise when you've stopped), but you always go ahead and start spamming again.

TLDR: You stop spamming the same thing over and over, and the flagging stops, it's that simple. Ball's in your court.
