Everyone has their own story with the Resident Evil brand. Mine started with the classic games in the series, but it's been going on in recent times with the drift towards action that we've been seeing with the three most recent episodes. They may have liked more or less, in fact I have always found them to be very good action releases, but there has been a common line in all of them: Capcom promising to go back to the roots, and then disappointing with very interesting releases, but also very far from the spirit of the classics. In fact, I've always thought that what hurt the fans more than the quality of the games themselves, which, objectively seen, were action products more than remarkable, was the fact that they were shooters. To people who are asking for a return to the roots, don't promise to "like" the direction of the new Resident Evil, if you're going to give it action and adventure. There is only one thing more important than offering quality products, and that is to meet expectations.

Personally, I don't face so many problems when I'm standing in front of a Resident Evil. If it's action and it's good I enjoy it like Resident Evil 4, 5 and 6; but if it's action and it's bad I don't enjoy it at all like the mediocre Operation Raccoon City or the lamentable Umbrella Corps. What category does Resident Evil 7 belong to? Fortunately it's a very good game and, if that weren't enough, it's also finally fulfilling the umpteenth promise to get back to the roots. Best of all? What I liked the most is the feeling of balance that it conveys. Balance on the one hand because it is able to offer that aforementioned look back as it seeks new horizons with first-person perspective and some unpublished playable springs; and balance, also on the other, because it is composed of several parts and these enjoy a fantastic balance in terms of the time devoted to each of them and the relevance they have.
