Frostpunk - First Impressions and Gameplay Video

I am finally back on Steemit! Here to talk about a game called Frostpunk by 11 bit studios. They also made "Anomaly" and "This War of Mine. I know them for being creative in their game development and going outside the safe areas when it comes to games. I've attached my first play of the game on youtube in the post so you can check it out.

Frostpunk is a like a 4x/survival/stategy game where the world has turned cold due to some disaster. Your group of people fled their previous settlement to look for a more promising future. It's a grim game, a brutal game and a very well put together game. Tasked as the captain you must guide your people through tough times. Scavenging what you can to stay alive and leading your people with the utmost efficiency.

The goal of the game is to survive the brutal cold and raise the hope of your settlement. You will be passing laws to put the children to work or provide a safe shelter for them during work hours. Will you amputate limbs to keep people alive? Or let the injured die without further suffering? There is also an exploration element to the game. Sending out scouts to find other settlements, building outposts or just scrapping things from those who have fallen.

The atmosphere is wonderful, it's a very chill game. Ironically relaxing to manage a group of settlers in a post apocalyptic setting when you aren't in it yourself. The music and sound effects are great. Mechanically this game is ready for release, which isn't a common thing these days.

Once again 11 bit studios has found success at developing a game with high originality yet utilizing a lot of the concepts we all have experienced and loved. It reminds be of a 4x game with a different take on it. Where 4x is "Explore, Expand, Exploit, Exterminate" Frost punk is more of a 3x+S removing the Exterminate with "Survive". I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys brutal strategy games, 4x, city building or simulation games. It may also a be a good game for a newbie to these genres to dip your toes in and see if you enjoy it. One thing for sure is the game is dark and brutal so keep that in mind if it isn't your thing.
