5 biggest game releases of March 2018
March is almost upon us. And with it, a lot of noteworthy titles.
Lets check out the 5 biggest:
5. A Way Out
Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One
Release Date: March 23rd
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Developer: Hazelight Studios
The latest title from the creators of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, A Way Out is a game that follows the story of two convicted prisoners as they break out of jail and are on the run from authorities. What is unique about the title, is that it can only be played with a second player in coop-mode; either on- or offline. Fortunately only one player needs a copy of the game when playing over the internet. A Way Out allows for different methods of achieving a goal, meaning that not every playthrough will be the same. Another unique feature is that the game is constantly displayed in split-screen. While one player might watch a cut-scene on one side of the screen, the other gamer is able to freely explore the environment on the other.

4. Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom
Platforms: PC, PS4
Release date: March 23rd
Publisher: Bandai Namco
Developer: Level 5
After countless delays the sequel to Wrath of the White Witch is finally coming on March 23rd. The title keeps the Studio Ghibli charm of the original, even though the filmmakers are no longer involved in the creation of the series. Gorgeous visuals, lovable characters and an intriguing battle system make this a must buy for fans of JRPGs. Check out the trailer, that also includes interviews with the Japanese voice actors, below:
3. Kirby: Star Allies
Platform: Nintendo Switch
Release date: March 16th
Publisher: Nintendo
Developer: HAL Laboratory
This is the first big Switch-exclusive release of 2018 that isn't a port. Kirby makes his debut on the platform in a classic jump'n'run title. The pink puffball swallows enemies, copies their abilities and continues to battle trees. As the name implies, Kirby isn't going alone on this adventure. Up to three allies can join him in battle. These are recruited by throwing hearts on enemies, in turn making them your friends. These can either be controlled by the CPU or by up to three human players. The game also allows you to combine powers with your allies to create devastating attacks.

2. Sea of Thieves
Platforms: PC, Xbox One
Release Date: March 20th
Publisher: Microsoft
Developer: Rare
After years of making avatars, re-releasing older titles and making their IP available in other franchises, Rare is finally back with a brand new game. Sea of Thieves is a massively multiplayer online title set in a world full of pirates, ship battles and treasure. Several players form a crew and set sail to explore the vast open world. During their sea-faring adventures they will encounter rival players, sharks and monsters. The cartoony game world is experienced from a first-person perspective and looks stunning. A highlight are definitely the water effects. The game is also one of the first titles to be available on Xbox Game Pass (think Netflix for videogames).
Arrrrrr!! Ready for some seafaring adventures? Then check out some gameplay:
1. Far Cry 5
Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One
Release Date: March 27th
Publisher: Ubisoft
Developer: Ubisoft Montreal
The latest installment in the long-running franchise ticks all the boxes for Far Cry-fans. A unique location that hasn't been done to death in other shooters? I can't think of any other game that is set in Montana. A memorable villain with a twisted motif? Joseph Seed, the main antagonist in the game, is a radical preacher that uses violent ways to convert non-believers. Wildlife living in the game world that will occasionally attack you? Do bears, cougars and wild boars sound dangerous enough? Far Cry 5 stays true to the formula, but also expands upon it. The fifth title in the series will introduce a character editor and do away with the tedious watchtower-system.
