Video Assistant referee : a plus for football.

VAR is a football association assistant referee that reassess decision made by the the central referee with the use of video replay.
In recent times there has been call for VAR review in football games as a result of decisions that seems to be bias and controversial by the head referee. Procedures
There are 4 calls that can be reassessed

1. Penalty decisions
   2 Goals and whether there was infraction during the build up
2. Card decisions (Red cards)
3. Mistaken identity in awarding cards (yellow and red)
   Time intervals of making decisions
   It takes, on average, 30-40 seconds to reassess incidents. while the game is stopped. The VAR will look at all aspects leading up to a goal that might have been missed, including offside, any infraction by the attacking team in the build-up and the ball going out of play prior to goal.
   The set up

The VAR — the fifth member of the refereeing team who will be in constant communication with the on-field referee(the Central Referee) For games with 12 camera angles, there will also be one replay operator; for more than 12, there will be two replay operators.

Which games will VAR technology be used for?
The VAR will be used for every games based on its acceptance by the league board and by the International Governing body of Football (FIFA).
However, the first will be Monday’s FA Cup tie between Brighton and Crystal Palace. Then both legs of Chelsea and Arsenal’s EFL Cup semi-final, the first of which is on Wednesday. Also the EFL Cup final on February 25 and selected future FA Cup games.
