Ashes of creation, A World Of Warcraft killer?
So myself I have been playing MMO's for about 5 years or so, I have gone through many MMO's/MMORPG's in that time period such as, Neverwinter, World of Warcraft, Tera, Guild wars 2, Rift, So if you are new to MMO gaming let me explain the MMO beast we all know of, World Of Warcraft, WoW Has always seemed to stay ontop of the MMO pillar the past 12 years or so, The game has depth, Good Roleplaying Communitys, And generally an overall good experience, But you find the game is Very Very demanding when it comes to time, The general objective in the game is PVE (Raiding fighting big monsters etc etc.) But to get far in the game you have to spend tremendous ammounts of time to do so now they have a PVP aspect to the game but even that is not laid back and takes a lot of time to progress in, And in the past 12 years we have not really seen a good laid back MMO, Untell now (Or i hope so). So Ashes Of Creation popped up on kickstarter By Intrepid Studios, Inc. To the date of this post they have gotten over $2,901,960 (First 30 minutes they made $200,000) in backers, They have worked on many titles such as Call of duty, So the game is based on what they call there "Node System" And they claim it will not be a Pay to win game, There are many play styles to the game, And not all of them are combat related, There is a vast economy that you can partake in and turn it into you're main play style, I am looking forward for many other play styles to come, So the question is, Will this bring a lot of attention to World Of Warcraft players, Well it has been the hot topic in many guilds and chats in World Of Warcraft, So we can all hope that Intrepid Studios delivers on there claims, We can all hope this will not be another over hyped MMO Disaster.

The only WoW killer will be WoW itself at this point. People have too much time invested in it to just abandon it at mass.
I feel if Ashes Of Creation will be as good as they claim it to be, WoW Will start to see drops in subs slowly, With legion coming out they have focused so much on PVE And have not focused on other Aspecs of the game that people enjoy, So if ashes is good and is not Over hyped and ruined on launch i feel that specific types of WoW Players will move to it, Thank you for your comment :D.
I discovered this game about a week ago and quickly became a backer.
I played WoW since Vanilla and off and on throughout the years (most in Wrath) up through the beginning of Legion. What AoC captures that I think most other MMOs miss the mark on is the emergent gameplay. The closest successful MMO that I can think of that has done this incredibly well is EVE Online. I played this too many years back and quit when my alliance was expecting me to get up at 2am for ops. The common thread I see between these is scarcity. That is what makes the node system work and makes the interactions between players meaningful. After watching many of the live streams, I believe they will hit the sweet spot between risk and allowing players to feel that their progression is meaningful. It was always sad to enter a bad engagement in EVE, lose your ship, and (if you were unfortunate) your pod, potentially losing hours or days of skill points in you had not updated your clone. The threat of loss made the game more exciting than the majority of memories I have in WoW.
Even if AoC is not a WoW killer, I expect it will have an enthusiastic player base. Let's hope AoC doesn't end up in the Star Citizen development hell ;)
