Ubisoft overhauls all the editions of Rainbow Six Siege
With the Free Weekend just past, Ubisoft has had a rethink of the content they are offering to players.
Ah, the dreaded Starter Edition. As an entry player back in Year 1, I thought I'd pick up the cheapest version of the game to try it out. Oh boy, was that a mistake. The slow progression and lack of operators made it tough to stick it out. Nowadays I join the many fans who warn new players against buying the infamous edition. Ubisoft has now supposedly heard these concerns and completely overhauled the different available editions of the game. Gone is the Starter Edition for good. If you're looking to buy the game after trying out the Free Weekend or tuning into the Six Invitational next week, below are the new editions you can choose from.
Base Edition
The new base PC edition will now have an everyday price of $29.95 AUD. It will also have an improved progression compared to the previous Starter Edition, returning to the original base game system.
Deluxe Edition
Players who purchase the Deluxe Edition will acquire the new base edition and an instant roster expansion.
This includes all Year 1 Operators:
Buck, Frost, Blackbeard, Valkyrie, Caveira, Capitão, Hibana and Echo.
Gold Edition
The Gold Edition provides all the benefits of the Deluxe Edition plus the Year 4 Pass, which grants early access to all 8 Year 4 Operators.
Ultimate Edition
The Ultimate Edition unlocks all DLC Operators in-game through the end of Year 3, as well as the benefits of the Year 4 Pass (Operators included).
This version grants access to every DLC Operator:
Buck, Frost, Blackbeard, Valkyrie, Caveira, Capitão, Hibana and Echo (Year 1).
Mira, Jackal, Ela, Zofia, Ying, Lesion, Dokkaebi and Vigil (Year 2).
Lion, Finka, Maestro, Alibi, Maverick, Clash, Nomad and Kaid (Year 3).
Plus all Year 4 Operators 7 days before they release. - Ubisoft News
