Detroit: Become Human-Brief Review-PS4

in #gaming5 years ago

Greetings all and thank you for spending some of your time here with me. Today I have something that I don’t normally do. But I felt so inclined and inspired by this game. It’s fresh!

Detroit: Become Human was originally released on May 25, 2018 by the developer Quantic Dream for the PS4 console. As of July however, for PS Plus members this game can be obtained for the low low price of free.99. And obtain I did.

Let me just start by saying I absolutely love this game. From the moment it begins you are immersed in a world where each decision you make is crucial to the future outcome. The pressure of making tough calls is present right from the get go.

Before starting the game you are asked if you would like to play ‘casual’ or ‘immersion’. I recommend going for all! Detroit: Become Human takes place in the not so distant future. A time when androids are part of society and can be found in many different roles.

As for the gameplay, you switch between three characters. All with different roles and responsibilities. You are first introduced as a detective and police negotiator. The second character is a housekeeper and caretaker of a troubled man (drugs and violence) and his young daughter. The third is the care-taker of a wealthy artist. By going through these three different characters you can see the many aspects of daily life as an android in the 2030’s.

As for now, I am only sharing some beautifully captured images from live gameplay, as I’m afraid videos can easily lead to spoilers.
For each chapter you are given a set of objects that may or may not change based on your behavior and choices. At the end of each chapter or mission, your choices are broken down into nodes where you can see what paths other players around the globe (including friends) have taken.

This game is slow paced to perfection. As you walk with each character, bonds are immediately created and I found myself gasping in surprise or shock as events unfolded. A pick up for sure if you are into survival, choice based, decision making games with a touch of cinematic feel.

Not only is the story line beautifully created with a dark undertone but the images are stunning. The gameplay is smooth and not clunky like games of the past from the same developer. They have truly created a work of art here. I’m happy to have added this one to my collection as I’ve had my eye on it for some time but was a bit hesitant to make the purchase. PS Plus coming through big on this one!

That’s all for now, time to play some more! As always, thank you for stopping by. Feel free to leave a comment or vote if you’ve made it this far :) Until next time, be well.

I struggle as one of the internets few David Cage Defenders.

On on hand it's easy to defend him in regards to his ability to create a powerful atmosphere, and ability that almost no other game directer has on the same level as David Cage.

The problem comes with the fact the game is written by David Cage and he doesn't seem to understand how people work. And the man writes his stories with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer to the skull. The more you analyze his plots the more absurd they become.

When I did my best and worst of list for last year, I was torn between this game making my best of and worst of lists, and inevitably settled for the latter.

On the worst list? Oh wow...Yea I mean, I did find myself pushed towards a few choices but still enjoy the gameplay. Do you have the link to your best worst list post? Would love to take a gander.
