I haven't played WOW for quite a while now, but I am somehow still always anxious to see what the new expansions/raids/etc. would be like :)
I've actually been doing some "historical" gaming posts lately, covering noteworthy games released in certain years (just made two about 92 and 2000) and there hansn't been any other MMORPG that would be as immersive as WOW
I play since warcraft: orcs vs human, the demo that came on a cd because at that time I could not buy games, I was a kid, then I played a lot of warcraft 3, playing competitive tournaments in my country. When World of Warcraft came out, a friend brought me a copy of the game and played Vanilla a long time, played Padaria and Wod and Legion. the others play them little. no matter how many years pass, I always return to azeroth.
