Lord of the Rings Online - Legendary server. What is that?

in #gaming6 years ago

So a little less than a month ago (November 8) a legendary server was opened in Lotro (Lord of the Rings Online). What exactly is a legendary server and is it worth it? Let's find out!

The Legendary Server, (or two of them, since the first one got so populated, so they opened another one.), received both positive and negative reactions.

But first, let's take a step back and see what this Legendary thing actually all is about.

For Lotro, with all of its expansion and current level cap of 120, the previous zones and expansions felt....a bit empty.
It was quite hard to find group members for dungeons or questing.

The developers came up with a genius idea, legendary server.

Basically you can level up to Shadows of Angmar and up to level 50. Everything is basically the same as in the retail servers except that some stuff in the Lotro store will be disabled and you will also not be able to travel to zones that is above level 50, you will be redirected back.

This server is very good for those people who wants to re-live the early days of Lotro. Do not confuse this with classic server, which is TOTALLY different.

A classic server goes back to how the game actually played back then, with, for example, old talent-systems, old skill-systems, old graphics and so on. The Legendary server that Lotro has, is a pure "level up to 50 and re-experience the golden days but with everything intact as how the game runs nowadays". Basically...

So its been different reactions to this from the player-base. Some people thought it was going to be like a classic server and didn't really understand the point of having a server that runs on the latest updates, but with a level cap of 50. And then we have those people who actually enjoyed this a lot and was looking forward to playing on the legendary server (now two of them).

The only thing that is important to notice is that the Legendary server is a VIP only server, which means that you need to be a subscriber to play on the server. Which, for me personally, is a very good thing.

You don't need to worry about gold-sellers or random people who don't want to take the game seriously. You will know that those people you meet in the game actually WANT to be there.
