Built this budget workstation/gaming rig | Ryzen 5 1600, 16GB DDR4, RX 480 8GB, 256GB M.2 SSD, 5TB HDD
My €1100 workstation/gaming PC build
Not an avid gamer though, I feel the need of a beastly, yet affordable, workstation. I'm just so excited about the build:
Component | Price(€) |
---|---|
AMD Ryzen 5 1600 6/12 cores/threads, 3.6 GHz (max), 16MB L3 cache | 217.58 |
G.Skill Trident Z 3200 MHz C16 DDR4 (2x 8GB) | 163.72 |
Sapphire Radeon NITRO RX 480 8GB GDDR5 | 236.08 |
Samsung 960 EVO Nvme M.2 SSD 250GB Toshiba X300 4TB HDD | 124.32 131.16 |
AsRock Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming K4 | 122.05 |
750Watt Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 80PLUS Gold | 112.76 |
Thermaltake Core P5 case free, from a friend | 0 |
Corsair Hydro Series H55 free | 0 |
1107.67 |
The case is open and a little bigger that allow better air circulation. Also, I wouldn't myself pay around $150 for this case though. I'd go for a €70-80 so my total cost is below €1200. This is the barebone case with the water cooler.
I feel really good about the components, especially the CPU itself, AMD Ryzen 5 1600. This is the first time I'm using an AMD CPU and Ryzen's price-performance ratio wowed me.
AMD Ryzen 5 1600: Cinebench R15
Just mounted the motherboard and PSU.
I had two old 500GB which I happily installed in the machine together with 256 GB SSD and 4TB HDD.
It looks cool from every angle. This is a top view.
This PC is going to do all my resource intensive work as well as meet my gaming needs (again, I'm not a hardcore gamer). The CPU mines Monero (cryptonote) at 350 H/s earning an XMR cent every day. And the GPU RX 480 is one of the best mining GPUs out there. More important, I'm running full nodes of a dozen of cryptocurrencies already; will install more. Half of the 4TB HDD is allocated for storing blockchain data, and at least 1TB for BitTorrent hosting (seeding) of open source softwares (like Linux OS images, etc.) I personally use.
Beautifull one hope you will get back what you invested.
:)
ARE YOU SURE YOU WERE NOT TRYING TO BUILD AN ANTMINER? That is waaaayyyy over gaming requirements!
That's a nice rig you got there. I need to get one for me as well. Someday, hopefully!
great setup
liked the case
