0xUniverse: A Week in Review

The best blockchain game on the planet, 0xUniverse passed some milestones this week.

The game's 1-year anniversary is due in July, and with over 140,000 planets discovered, it has been quite an adventure watching the game and community grow and evolve.

Last Friday, May 24th the dev team held their 2nd QandA live on Discord. The masterminds behind the advanced blockchain strategy game answered questions and gave fans some reassurances about the major updates soon to come. Software development and deadlines do not mesh.

So although players are anxious to see more features added to the game, we just have to be patient and allow the team proper time to deliver. Some of the major poinst of interest include:

  1. Corporations and corp wars
  2. A fully functional mobile version of the game
  3. The highly anticipated 0xBattleships

These updates might be a ways off and will not come all at once, but when they do, it's sure to blast 0xUniverse to the next level of blockchain gaming.

The mysterious crypto-space explorer and investor Spig is at it again.

0xUniverse's power player Spig has been methodically buying up some of the games most prized assets, legendary planets. Upon unlocking the modules or puzzles hidden within a few legendary planets, Spig was then able to find the Hidden Planet of the Sculptors and move the storyline forward. I wouldn't be too surprised if more leggy discoveries are right around the corner.

Moreover, my personal progress in the game continues to aid in blockchain education.

So far, the game has taught me, first hand about some of the current, physical limitations of Ethereum's network. Ship invention #17 requires some serious thought and time-consuming planet moving. I'm just about there at the time of writing, I will keep you all posted. But back to ETH's current state...I'm not too worried.

The overall roadmap includes a plethora of layer 1 (requires a hard fork) and layer 2 solutions. These are set to roll out in the next few years and have separate research and development teams. Ethereum seeks power in numbers, as it likely has the most developers in the blockchain space, more than Bitcoin. There are bound to be some hiccups, as this tech is so brand spanking new. Either way, I'm pretty confident that a combination of all these scaling solutions will make Ethereum 2.0 pretty unstoppable.

Futhermore, new space explores are joining the fun and getting addicted to the game.

There are some seriously knowledgable folks within the 0xUniverse community. It is nice to see some new peripheral content popping up as well. Flat Universers are creating some pretty sweet, in-depth guides and video tutorials. I can't think of a better way to learn about Ethereum and blockchain, than by playing this game and collaborating within this community.

In addition, the audiences on discord and telegram have been steadily growing. These platforms are the best places to interact with the global community and learn the game. People all over the world are buzzing around in spaceships and discovering new worlds of their own. Why don't you come and join in the fun?

As you know, a separate team is working on

difficulties in 0xBattleships, so there

details of the physical limits of Ethereum
as it pertains to inventing ship #17?" -
Very sensitive question. I am very upset
that we have not yet found a way to solve
this problem. So far, the most realistic
option is to transfer part of the game
logic to our server. One way or another we
will solve this!

@von that is a secret that space explorers
will find out soon enough I hope smiley
But the thing is you can count on more of
those beauties because, well, an expansion
may happen rocket

@MKL I think Sergey answered that with "We

Many questions about the legendary planet.
Yes, it has become increasingly difficult
to find them, but I am sure that not all
have been found yet

@kadusu they're much fewer now than
before, but as Sergey said not all have
been found, and as was mentioned this is a
secret for space explorers to discover
(we're talking bout leggies after all
smiley ). And, mind you guys, you will see
more as the story continues

depending on certain number of planets
discovered?" - No, this is only related to
the study of the stories of the legendary
planets. It became unexpected for us that
there were many planets in the same hands.
I think we can convince Spig to sell a few
or share their stories

@Kevinsmak "After corps do you have
further updates planned other than
battleships. If so can you mention
anything about it?" - Definitely yes!
Corporations are the basis of future
upgrades. In addition, it is very
important that you find the Hidden Planet
to open up to the new features of the
game.

@Bitsburgh_cobra "perhaps transfer the
logic to a different platform, to keep
with the decentralized nature of
blockchain gaming?" - We see no benefit
from using platforms like LOOM. If some
kind of game logic is too complicated and
not related to the transfer of values, it
is much easier and more convenient for
everyone to transfer it to a centralized
server. This does not contradict the
blockchain philosophy of games simply to
the fact that all the most important
transactions remain in the blockchain.

@PatrickG "Is there a plan to allow
resources to be bought/sold directly (as
opposed to needing to buy/sell the
underlying planet)?" - What for? thinking

@PatrickG 0xBattleships will have a use
for resources, if that's what you mean.
Also corps will have their own res pools

@Fiammifero yea, 0xB will have a use for
0xU resources, as we mentioned before
muscle::skin-tone-3 at least that was the
plan hehe

@MKL "help on issues you may have? help
on speeding up a few minor features maybe?
not sure, it seems the team could have
used some help the past 6 months with no
update" - The best way to help us keep
playing. Including our other games. Your
support is what gives us both financial
and moral strength!

players that had many planets, when
launching, experienced errors. So a new
contract was created

private messages?" -Don't we already chat?

I am sure that the problem with resources
is not in the absence of a market, but in
the fact that they can be used in few
places so far. We want to make more
places, this is what we are working on.

@PatrickG well, that was asked before, if
memory serves me right, and yea -
0xBattleships will have a use for
0xUniverse resources, that is - those
resources that are produced on 0xU planets
earth_americas

but as Sergey mentioned, the thing is more
places are needed and that is indeed what
the team is working on now

launching ships a few centimeters above

discord, it would have a bigger reach
especially to trade planets smiley" - We
can not make chat more convenient than the
Discord. Those players who want to
communicate are already here. Those
players who do not want to communicate
will not use the in-game chat.

@PatrickG trade directly? You mean a res
market - then Sergey is right, no separate
market wink

@Fiammifero "" - Direct messages with a
plan to buy the planet can be useful. In
particular, recently, at the request of
Spig, we asked a couple of our players to
set their planets for sale and they
responded. We will try to make this
feature comfortable and not violating
privacy - thanks!

@choody we have a trello board with
suggestions, last time some guys asked
about open source/api etc - we added the
suggestion there to see how many would
vote

0xUniverse as a basis for creating other
games for other games creators?" - We are
always open to such offers

@Fiammifero this is a point of concern for
many - with resources being needed and all
smiley but yea - the team is working on
that so whilst no direct trade/res market
(as Patrick asked), there will be other
possibilities, but you will see for

@Fiammifero what I can say is that won't
be a dead end and it will be possible to
find itwink

happens if the owner of a legendary that
has the key to discover the hidden planet
looses access to his wallet? are there
enough different paths to the last
legendary to make sure this won't be a
problem?" - We have an extra backup plan!

market - no. But other ways - yes
1 million - yes, the class distribution -
players will find out as they go, that is
the best answer I can give hehe

@akeeter as mentioend before, yes the team
is working on different solutions for
that. Just not on a separate res market
