The Art Of Gaming

Books and movies coexist. Their main goal is to convey an important massage to us, readers and viewers. They do it differently, but the goal is same. They both are the source of entertainment. But what they often lack is immersion. We can relate to character, try to feel that we really are there, but it's not enough.

Video games allow us to experience that immersion. We teleport to another dimension with help of a gaming devices. We are in control of a character and sometimes our decisions in games affect the story line, so we are the ones to decide how the story will unveil itself. We create our own adventure.blue-controller-dualshock-18174.jpg
Often gaming is viewed as a mindless activity, but it actually holds meaning. There are massages, stories that want to be conveyed to us, gamers. For example, "Heavy Rain" and "Beyond two souls" are purely oriented on story telling. I remember finishing "The last of us" and having the feeling that i played an incredible game. The relationship that develops between the two main characters is unforgettable. I won't spoil anything, if you want to experience a brilliant story, have time and money for it, just try this incredible game.

Videos games also allow us to enjoy ourselves by admiring the surrounding beauty. You don't have to rush through a video game. You can just stand idle and just look at the scenery. I remember in "The Witcher 3" the first time i visited Toussaint. The colors that unfolded right in front of my eyes left me speechless.

Gaming has a bad name, unfortunately. We always hear that it makes kids violent, makes them lazy and so on. What people fail to understand is, that particular games are aimed at particular audiences. You do not let your 8 year old kid play "Doom." It very clearly says, that it is not for kids under the age of 18. Same is with the books. You don't let your kids read about erotic and gory stories.

Also gaming has some positive effects, if you play moderately of course and not game all night. It boosts your tracking ability. Gamers tend to follow objects that are in their line of sight better that non-gamers. They can see multiple objects moving.

All i want to say is, that gaming should not be viewed as a negative form of entertainment. Sure there are a lot of "toxic" gamers, but there also are the once who can just enjoy it and admire it. Video games are forms of art and should be treated as the movies and books are treated. Perhaps it will gain recognition as the time passes.
