So how is Destiny 2 after it's first week ??

in #games7 years ago (edited)

Since the release last week, all I've been playing is Destiny 2 (D2). I've been preparing my character for the raid that's dropping tomorrow and after seeing the power level requirements, I'm excited that I can participate the moment it's gonna drop. Sadly I don't have any time until the weekend..

After playing this game for a week, it really feels like the previous game was a three year long open beta. D2 is packed with a lot of content, A LOT! At first 5 strikes felt really thin (6 strikes on PS4, and some other exclusives only available on Sony's platform), because that was really the only way in Destiny 1 (D1) to get some better gear, besides the weekly raids and nightfalls..

First off the Story in this game is pretty fun. The cut scenes are beautiful, the music is really good, the voice overs can be a little corny at times but overal they are great. The graphics are just phenomenal for how big this game is, there are 4 planets at the moment and they all looks so different from each other. With the European Dead Zone being the biggest followed by Nessus, the other two (Titan and Io) are much smaller but have some really nice effects. The DLC content have been leaked already and we are getting a fifth planet Mercury, I hope this one is pretty big also.

In D2 you can get gear from literally everywhere.. From strikes, public events, a lot of different vendors with tokens, crucible, flashpoints and off course the weekly raids and nightfalls.. In D1 crucible was horrible to me and didn't felt right, this time around they made it 4v4 and the mechanics are just working better now. We have to wait and see though, because Bungie is good at nerfing all the good things and make it less fun..

As I'm writing this I'm Power level 282 (the Destiny fans will know how hard grinding this is hehe..), the raid that is dropping tomorrow will be around 260 - 280. So I'm ready for this, I'll let you know how I've experienced it!

Before I go, let me show you the first exotic emote I got in this game, eating some ramen noodle!

Nice update. I'm thinking about getting it for PC still. You keep gaming, I'll keep upvoting.

Jealous of your exotic emote :) good luck with the raid!

Interesting... I found Destiny 2, while fun to be a big ripoff. I'm very interested in your perspective here. I really thought the microtransactions ruined a lot of the experience (for me), and that the story, while improved, was a little flat.

Microtransactions are purely cosmetic and as far as I could see at eververse it was only some shaders and things like that so I ain't bother with it. Plus you get some with blight engrams.

The story is kinda flat and straight forward (brings me back to Halo 1), but compared to D1 (was there a story?) it's pretty fun and it's just for levelling your character anyways to get ready and play that end-game content, it really feels like a console MMO game.

I will review this game again after a month and see how much work Bungie will continue to put in, because content was the biggest thing lacking in D1.

Yeah, the cosmetic part does influence how people play, especially since it was there in the first game.

Yeah, now that you mention the Halo 1 story, it does seem pretty straight forward like that. Bungie doesn't have a history of truly great storytelling either. And D1... let's not mention that storyline lol!

Yeah, I'll come back to it as well. I look forward to your review!

You're a shooter-oholic! Is this one 4K ready for you Xbox One X? Or are you playing this on your inferior PS4 Pro?

Bungie didn't say a word yet about the One X version, but I guess it would be checkerboard 4K at least up to hopefully Native 4K.. I will stay playing this on my inferior PS4 Pro though, since this game is really a multiplayer game and all of my buddies are playing on that console : - (

I believe Titan is not a planet.

How much grind there is? How long is the story compaign?

Titan is Saturn's moon, so basically not a planet lol. The story is pretty short and felt kinda rushed towards the end, the plot with the speaker was funny though.

When you reached around Power level 275, the grind is more weekly than daily, since you can only get higher level upgrades from luminous engrams that drops from weekly activities. But they will launch more activities in the upcoming weeks so we have to see how this will play out. Crucible drops some higher level loot too sometimes.
