#2 - The Rewards of Killing In Call Of Duty

Good evening, everyone, I hope you enjoyed a beautiful Saturday. I know the time I had set for this post to be published was at 7 pm, but you see that I missed the internet, and that’s a typical problem of those who lives in this country. Anyway, let's get down to business; we’re very near to closing the first article on COD. Last night we talked about how COD had a great position on the market thanks to its game speed and the different modes it offered.

Today, however, the topic will deal with the tools the game uses to make the experiences more eye-catching, tools called "killstreaks". Initially in this post I would also talk about COD's position on his "enemies", but once the whole text was done, I saw that it was too long: 4 pages of text only. So I'll divide up all the information, and the rest of this article we'll have it, if we can, tomorrow at 7 pm.

Let's get started. From COD 4 Modern Warfare, you could already see a tool that the saga would expand to infinity: Killstreaks. What are they? A "coin" that fulfills two functions: The first is to reward the player for his participation in the game, either for his intelligence, speed to aim, ingenuity to get out of hard situations, etc. The second is to invite him to continue fighting and having fun in this field, letting out all his frustration with a virtual weapon.

Now, literally speaking, killstreaks (also called point streaks in deliveries like Black Ops 2) consist of a tool that the player can use to gain an advantage over other players in the game, although they are usually used for direct offense and attack.

There are all kinds of them, be it spy planes, faster gun reloading, less noise when walking, undetectable by the enemy radar, etc. These gusts are, at first, the cause of Call of Duty being a fun saga, and have helped her to stay alive and "innovating" (within the standards of the saga).

Why is that? Simple, because they are not as easy to win as, ideally, it should be. It turns out that to achieve them, you have to win them, eliminating all the enemies of the opposing team, and if you haven't played it, let me tell you that it's not easy to face six other people, each with a different strategy. Yes, of course, there are alternative ways to get them in some of the more modern games, which do not require so much of the player's skills to kill, but they are usually obtained through the deaths of enemies.

COD4 has a simple multiplayer; we only have 3 killstreaks at our disposal, so the possibilities are greatly reduced. This does not detract from the equation or the skill of the players, nor does it detract from the fact that many have even made strategies to make the most of every step they take. The streaks, at the end of the day, are just a tool. Mark of the saga, yes, but a tool.

Among the things that made COD great, is the fact that its players supported the evolution of YouTube during the years after its inception, through creating content about this game. Not one, not two, but more than dozens of channels went up COD day after day, and of course, perhaps the content or quality of most of these was not the big thing, but the phenomenon existed, and after years and years, it has become what we know today.

A YouTube full of games that competes against Twitch, Amazon's platform, and at the same time promotes and supports its servers and users with more power and influence. This would not have been possible in part, to COD (there are other games that also had influence, but that is taking another post).

It was one of the most exploited games in terms of game videos, also received a gigantic amount of feedback and content made by the user. There are memes, parodies of campaign scenes, jokes related to bugs, experiences about zombie mode, mods to modify parts of the game, and so on.

And that's all for today, I hope you liked the second part of this trilogy of posts about COD. If so, please leave a comment with your opinion on the subject. Tomorrow, if possible, I will end this gigantic post on the saga in general. Good night!
