Fortnite Battle Royale Is Coming to iOS and Android
Fortnite Battle Royale is an absolute phenomenon. It is, as the name suggests, a battle royale game in the vein of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and H1Z1. However, Fortnite also boasts Minecraft-style elements and Overwatch-style visuals.
After proving to be a huge success on Windows, Mac, PS4, and Xbox One, Epic Games has announced that Fortnite Battle Royale is coming to a smartphone or tablet near you. Starting with iOS, and with support for Android to follow in the next few months.
Play Fortnite Battle Royale on Your Smartphone:
In its blog post announcing the mobile version of Fortnite Battle Royale, Epic Games claims this will be “the same 100-player game you know from PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac. Same gameplay, same map, same content, same weekly updates.”
Not only will this be exactly the same game, but thanks to Epic’s “partnership with our friends at Sony, Fortnite Battle Royale will support Cross Play and Cross Progression between PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, iOS and eventually Android.” Which is stunning.
Epic Games isn’t just dropping this in the App Store for everybody to download. Instead, players will be invited gradually over the coming months. This will let Epic test the game and its servers, but also build anticipation in those waiting for an invite.
Registrations for the Invite Event on iOS open on Monday, March 12. So if you want to be in with a chance of playing the mobile version early you’ll need to sign up at Fortnite.com. Email invites will then be sent out along with invite codes to share with friends.
