What is... CryptoCities.net?

Not to be confused with a lot of awful crypto celebrity copycat games hitting the crypto games sphere at the moment, CryptoCities offers an exciting first step towards a fully fledged Civilization game on the blockchain.

Discovered accidently in it's pre-release phase, this little gem of a crypto game is full of potential, reversing the generation scheme seen in Crypto Kitties & it's copycats, the idea and main goal of phase 1 of the game is to 'Discover' new cities, the more cities and location points you have, the better the cities you can discover.

This may not seem incredibly exciting at first, but each city is unique, and includes it's own unique google map location to add a sense of realism to your discovery:

Where do i start?

Phase 1 of CryptoCities is already underway, a player base increasing growing in size has already begun discovering new cities, but at such an early stage it's still a great time to being your journey into the game.

To begin your journey, you need to purchase or rent a city from the games marketplace:

You have two options here, to rent or purchase a city. Each city has a discovery rating, for your first purchase i'd be focusing on cities ranked 1-4 for discovery rating.

Do i buy or rent?

Purchasing a city ensures you are now it's owner, and it will remain present on your MetaMask address until you decide to sell or potentially gift it away.
Renting a city allows you to temporarily loan a city from a player, the loan currently lasts for 12 hours, and loan prices are generally much cheaper than purchase prices, allowing new players to start out on a smaller budget.
As thing stand the average price per discovery rating seems to follow a 1 rating to 0.1 ratio, this may change upwards or downwards in the next few days. So anything priced around or below this seems like a solid first investment.

Discover Cities

So you've made your first purchase, depending on your purchased city level, you are now able to discover your first city.
A small fee that ranges in cost depending on recent city sales, is charged for your to discover a new city. As things stand the discovery cost for a city is 0.006 per discovery point.
Once you have purchased your discovery, you will be presented with the following screen

Discoveries currently have a 12 hour cooldown, as do city purchases and rentals from the marketplace. These longer times allow for a much more sustainable market, so hopefully we'll never have to face something as drastic as the great Crypto kitty market crash.

Whats next

Now you've purchased your first city, and begun discovering a new one, you've begun your climb up the discovery ladder, eventually leading to the point where you can discover cities with up to 50 discovery points, including major capitals and historical cities.
It seems so far that to be able to discover again after your first cooldown completes, you must still have a minimum of 2 cities in your inventory, so you may wish to seek out further bargains on the marketplace.
