There is a new and easy way to learn High Valyrian.steemCreated with Sketch.

A few years ago I started learning Spanish using an app called duolingo. I started learning it with English as the base language and later continued with German as base language. Sadly I am not fluent yet, but I started practicing it on a daily basis again because @bozo started learning Portuguese. It was a great opportunity to start again and we promised to practice every day!

When I looked through all the available languages the first thing I noticed was that Duolingo added a lot more languages! Going through the list I added Korean and Turkish. The second thing that really stood out was that High Valyrian is available as a language to learn with English as basis. This is not just some course made by fans of the Game of Thrones series. The course is made and constantly improved by the inventor of the language, David J. Peterson!

I just started learning High Valyrian and I am only at level one.

Here you can find the course and over Here you can listen to the pronunciation of the words in the course.
High Valyrian is only available through the website at the moment, the app version will come later. I use the app most of the time because it's more convenient and can't wait for High Valyrian to be available.

Is anyone else here learning languages through Duolingo?

I use Duolingo a lot! For some time I was learning Esperanto, but then when Korean came out I switched over. My streak went as high as 85, I think. I ended up losing it during a trip and got discouraged haha.

I'm hoping they release Indonesian Malay soon too.

Wooow a 85 Streak, never had such a high streak! Now i am pumped to get to 365 haha.
I am a korean newbie and just lvl 3 at the moment. The course feels a bit rushed, because you jump right into words and stuff without really learning the hangul basics. There are some nice hangul apps in the play store and i installed one to learn the basic characters alongside the practice in Duolingo. Really love this app.

Right?! They jump into it really fast. There wasn't much of a middle ground. They'll probably tweak it as they go along, since they're still trying to learn their way around teaching languages with different writing systems.

I hope improvements will come along the way. There is no real writing in hangul at the moment.
