My Terraria Mod/Map - Xayayara the Orc - 50th entry
My 50th entry on Steemit, let's try for something special.
A few years ago I was rather obsessed with #Terraria
So much infact that I eventually took all my constructs and various maps and combined them within one world. Everything you find in this map is hand crafted by yours truly. The original idea was that you'd play the main character (an orc) in three different time frames (youth, adulthood and old age) in order to navigate the map and master the various challenges. If you can't progress with your current character you'd have to switch to either your older or younger self to figure out the process. I poured a couple hundred hours into this project back in the day and am happy to report that it sits at over 3000 downloads today. Let me know you think!
You can visit the #Curseforge project page here
The downloads can be found here
Without further ado I present The Adventures of Xayayara the Orc
Xayayara is an orc, this is his adventure in the realm of Thundera. Craft, build, explore, fight, survive, collect and travel through time; the adventure is yours.
Let me show you some of the pieces of the process:
About the Characters
Starting Locations for the different chapters:
Young Xaya begins his journey from his Village in Hammerfell:
Adult Xayayara wakes under most peculiar circumstances...
Old Xaya starts at his Tinker Workshop in Evermoon
.
Concept Art:
A couple of drawings I made to visualize the idea a little better. He's still a fairly generic orc in these. It would later transpire that Xayayara would become an archeologist in his adulthood and an engineer at ripe old age, outfits may vary.
Design Process:
Most of the the buildings were made in the game itself, for everything else I used Terrafirma, Tedit 2 - 2.0.8.5, and Photoshop
Level Design:
I'm quite happy with how some of the buildings and the map overall turned out. The map is populated with castles, towns, pirate ships, ruins, towers and even an underwater village! Here are some side cutaway shots for you to see:
So there you have it! I've since made further forays into game design and development and will be sharing the occasional insight if you guys like.
Until then,
Lok Tar Ogar and carry on.

Nice. I used to mess around on terraria a bit. Thanks for sharing!
Cheers!
Do you know about Starbound as well?
Sounds familar
I haven't been on steam in a while. (Assuming that's where u got terraria)
Yeah I did.
The interesting part about my Terraria purchase is that back then Steam still allowed "Trading". Basically, I traded 20 Quark Coins which I mined myself back in the day for Terraria. It was the first game in my new account back then and since the Library has grown to almost 150 games, most of which have been donated or gifted as part of my streaming/game testing endeavours. But it all started with 20 Quarkcoins :)
That's so funny. My story isn't near that interesting. I just bought my games. Lol. They have a lot of good indie games
They sure do, I love Stardew Valley for example.
My friend loved that one
You ever play any of the "weird" ones line binding of isaac
Yeah, it's a tough cookie that one.
Other than the ones mentioned here are some of my favorite indie games:
Super Meat Boy - JumpnRun
This War of Mine - 2D Survival
Banished - City Building/Survival
Undertale - RPG
Pillars of Eternity - RPG
