Learning Blender, unity, and coding...

Right now, that's pretty much what i've been doing these past 3 days, i have been following tutorials on the internet, learning how to modelize under blender, wich is much more stable than 3ds max (that crashes a lot and a lot and a lot) i didn't realize blender as such an easy to use interface, really usefull and easy interface for blending materials together using nodes to create really nice and complex procedural textures, unwrapping tools make even more sense, Modelizing tools are more intuitive and powerfull, fast under Blender too !

Okay nothing really great to boast about somehow, but you need to master the basics before you try to do great things, modelizing under 3ds max has been tedious most of the time, 3ds max crashes a lot, and i often end up loosing files, being corrupted, autobacks corrupted too, sometimes i just have no luck.

I feel like Blender, in that sense, is much more failsafe as it never crashed on me once even tho i'm working on it for 3 days straight, and i even let Blender open in the background during the night, opened it in the morning and was still working just as intended and ready to go. For this, and a lot of other little quarks like this and making life easier with modeling and texturing, i only have praise for that program that i really snobed for a long long time, and i'm sorry about it.

I was thinking of it as some second hand 3d modeling software filled with peperronis plugins and for a long time, when you searched about 3d models made in blender on the internet, you were only seeing the worst kind of things, so it had a bad picture in my mind, and i'm glad i made the decision to revisit it. Only idiots stay on one opinion and don't even try.

As for unity, i have been following a tutorial on how to create an rpg, and it ended up revisiting my past knowledge about programming, of course, i did not "invent" or create code myself, i just followed instructions but i could start to see how things can be modified, changed, and really enjoyed following this tutorial that you can find on youtube pretty easily if you type in "unity rpg tutorial"

This is the beginning of another kind of journey for me, but it's exciting, if it means i may be able to at least take little steps toward my dreams everyday, despite health issues, i want to believe !

Hey man - I'm pretty well into Blender atm, but would love to see what people come up with on the game-dev side of it. My approach is focused more on animation/pre-visualization, incorporating illustrative elements. Glad I found your blog, keep at it.

Hey thanks, I am going to take a look at what you do ^^

Thank you imaginalex for making a transfer to me for an upvote of 1.32% on this post!

Half of your bid goes to @budgets which funds growth projects for Steem like our top 25 posts on Steem!

The other half helps holders of Steem power earn about 60% APR on a delegation to me!

Thank you imaginalex, I too am working with blender. This post gained you a follower for several reasons. I resteemed it to keep this visible in my blog, I have been working on an interesting problem with text conversion to wiremesh using the alt-c command. I am hoping to find a community of blender learners that can share insights and inspiration for new blends. Also like the replies in this particular post for the additional insight into Jerry Banfield's guide and minnow support. This post in its entirety is a keeper for me especially for where I am in my journey along the Steem ecosystem.

Yes, Jerrybandfield gives really precious advice on this platform, visibility is much more valuable than taking all your money out of the platform, i have made this mistake the first week because i did know nothing about steemit and to be frank, i was thinking about it too much as a way to increase a little bit my quality of life and help my mother with the bills while showing my drawings.

But after a while i really met nice people around, and a community eager and ready to help you if you really make original content, your content. The first week i took away almost all my Steem dollars, i didn't think about it much... i made approximatively 130 euros (around 150 $) and it helped get some bills paid this month and i could feel being usefull for our household for once while doing what i love.

But while i still need to take a little bit away to help mom every month, i will follow Jerry Banfield's advice and reinvest everything in Steem Power, or the more i can because this platform has much much more value and potential being able to connect you to interesting people.

Visibility really helps getting your projects forward and this platform is really about interacting and finding people with the same kind of interests, and maybe even building things together at some point.

Witnesses are the first to give the advice to use these vote helpers, but while doing so, try to find those that can add value to your posts so you actually don't loose your sbd and even gain some by checking wich bot offers what in term of sbd spent for the value of the vote received.

This is a really fascinating ecosystem. The more i learn about it, the more i like it.

And i feel it's the very first posting / blogging platform where i have been so open with people, usually people doubt i am the one drawing this, or that, in other places i had a lot of people telling me i'm cheating in some sort of ways, that i can't be this good at drawing and there is a lot and a lot of jealous people in the webcomics space, i find it more healthy and psychologically appeasing to be posting here on steemit.

It feels like people can really see for once in my life that i have a little bit of talent and it's not just one thing i made that was nice looking but that when i want to make something really good i am able to, and that i have more than one talent ^^ Feels really nice to be around here, even tho, what i do won't be at the taste of everyone out there.

But it's my little artist thing ^^

Your reply and its content make the point, thank you for a thoughtful reply! My estimation and outlook are bolstered even more.
