Gods Unchained - Heartstone styled blockchain game

Fuelbros gave us another reason to be proud of the blockchain solutions. Thanks to their passion we’re now able to play a new card game – Gods Unchained. With the previous success of Etherbots the company is now diving into their next blockchain game with Coinbase Ventures as funding. Of course the whole game is hosted on Ethereum Blockchain, but only to some extent.

Co-founder and COO of the game, Robbie Ferguson said that blockchain technology "makes lots of sense" in the gaming industry. He also added “Although all the cards are immutably stored on Ethereum, players in Gods Unchained will only ever initiate transactions on the network when they want to purchase new cards or transfer their existing ones. All other events in the game will run off-chain, allowing gameplay to be indistinguishable from other games that don’t employ distributed ledgers while concurrently permitting millions of users to play without noticeably weighing down the network”.

You need to have in mind that players will only use the Ethereum blockchain to purchase new cards or transfer existing ones - the rest will be done off-chain. However this will still mean transaction fees for the players as we use Ethereum as the main chain.

Now what are the PROS of a Blockchain Trading Card games to current popular existing games such as Hearthstone?

In the blockchain TCG when players buy their cards they will have true ownership over their collection. This will let you to trade your cards with a profit margin or even start a true collection of rare cards. As many of us may recon, cards which are tradable may have some great value. (f.e. MTG first edition cards which sell in 1000’). This is a thing that modern games do not allow you to do…

The whole mechanics of getting cards is very similar to existing games like Hearthstone. You decide what decks you want to purchase and open them in order to get some random generated loot. Of course there is a verity of cards including rare, epic and legendary. The is also an option to get a shiny card (or as one would call it “foil” or “promo”). To make this even a better deal at this moment the cards that are being sold out in the boosters are the limited edition which will never be printed (digitalized) again.

Once I found this game I was really excited to see what happens next. It may be a good investment to get involved (almost like Magic the Gathering of XXI century). I really hope the game will surpass at least Hearthstone, especially in the gameplay and trading. It is so good to be alive in the blockchain era. We still have a long way to go but my, my we did a great leap forward.
