Advice for gamers

in #game7 years ago (edited)

This is an advice for gamers that play online competitive or ranked games, such as league of legends, overwatch, cs:go, and other similar types of games that heavily depends on teamwork to win.

If you are considering to play ranked games or already playing them, you should read the following three rules from my experience of how not to go on tilt or rage during and after ranked games. Yes, taking a break from it will help a little bit, but not very effective.

First Rule: Remember that it is just a game.

You play games to be entertained. But of course, when you are losing, it wouldn't be fun at all and will become very frustrating.
You have to remember why you decided to play ranked games in the first place. Question yourself: Why am I playing ranked games? To test where my skills rank in the community? Is it just for fun? To compete with others at my skill level?

Whatever your questions and answers are, remember that it is just a game.

Second Rule: Take a break.

Now, I know that I mentioned previously that taking a break will not be very effective. That is because most gamers I know, including myself (in the past), do not know how to take a break.
A break (noun) means: a brief period of rest or relaxation (www.dictionary.com) or a period of time when an activity stops (www.merriam-webster.com)
So, what a break really means is to take a period of time, whether it is 20 minutes, an hour, days, weeks, etc. (depending on how long you want to take). You have to take your mind off those games. That is where the activity stops. If you spend your time thinking about the games, much less playing normal games, then you are definitely not resting or even close to the level of relaxation. Everybody's way of taking a break is different, but don't try to bullshit me that playing normal games will let you feel rested or relaxed enough to play the next ranked game.
What I hope you understand is how to take a break.

Third Rule: take care of yourself.

Remember to exercise, read a book, sleep, etc.
You have to get your priorities straight!
You only have one body and a mind.
Your body and mind will be stronger if you exercise, plus it will help increase your reaction time.
But remember that gaming is just for entertainment.
You have to take care of things that matter the most (your family, friends, health, happiness, school/job, etc.).
Take care of yourself physically, mentally, and financially.
By financially, I mean to take care of your career. Not everyone is capable of making a living out from gaming.
So if you are studying right now, take care of your studies because they might come in handy in the future.

Oh, and don't blame your teammates if you are not winning (I find that toxic).
REMEMBER it is a team game. You do not win by yourself.
Try focusing on what you can do and control.
Don't waste your time and energy talking down to your teammates as they are playing with you for that game and you might not see them again. Instead, you can give them friendly advice.
I know it is easy to see other players' faults, but you need to check yours as well.
Have the mentality of looking at your own mistakes. This will help improve your game in the future.

These three rules of advice for gamers came from my experience.
Hope you find it helpful and entertaining.
Leave a comment as I would like to know your thoughts.
And if you have any other advice, please share. PEACE <3

Good article... I don't play online gaming and I suck at copetitive... but thanks for the "Take a Break" part... I needed to read that :) haha!!

The only advice I want to give is to format it better by using the title tags ### and bold tags ** so If I were you I'll write this part:

So, first rule you have to remember is that it is just a game. You play games to be entertained. But of course, when you are losing, it wouldn't be fun at all and will become very frustrating.

Like this:

### First Rule: Remember is that it is just a game.
You play games to be entertained.
But of course, when you are losing,
**it wouldn't be fun at all and will
become very frustrating.**

...

so it would be like:

First Rule: Remember is that it is just a game.

You play games to be entertained. But of course, when you are losing, it wouldn't be fun at all and will become very frustrating.

and format all of the article this way...

Believe me it will look much better... it will be more awesome if you could get pictures. but it's hard to find public domain ones for gaming.

That is so cool! Thanks for the tips :)

glad I helped..
