The game of chess
Chess is the careful maneuvering of pieces in order to trap the king. Chess is a board game for two players. It is played in a board, made of 64 smaller squares, with eight squares on each side. Each player starts with sixteen pieces which consists of eight pawns, two knights, two bishops, two rooks, a king and a room, a king and a queen.
The primary objective in chess is to checkmate your opponent's King. When a King cannot avoid capture then it is checkmated and the game is over.
There are 6 main objective in chess which are
- Development
- Controlling the center
- King safety
- Pawn structures
- Material winning
- Forks and discover.
Various terms in chess - Attack: When you move a piece to a square where you could capture an opponent’s piece in his next move.
- Blitz : Fast chess. Many blitz games are 5 minutes per player for the entire game.
3.Blunder: A bad move; primarily a move that turns a win into a loss or draw, or a draw into a loss. - Castle : To move your unmoved King 2 squares toward an unmoved Rook and to move the Rook on the other side of the King is the castling move.
- Capture: to remove a piece from the board via a legal move.
6.Check : An attack on the King. You have to announce “check”.
7.Checkmate: An attack on the King where there is no way for your opponent to finish his turn and no longer have the King attacked. To be checkmated - Discovery: An attack by a piece that was opened up via another piece’s move.
- En Passant : Capturing a pawn that moved 2 spaces with a pawn that could have captured it if it had only moved 1 space, on the next turn only.
- Illegal Move : A move that either (a) Moves a piece in an illegal manner, or ( 2) Results in an illegal position.
- Pin: An attack (by a Rook, Bishop or Queen) on a piece that cannot or should not move, because a piece behind the attacked piece is worth even more. If the piece behind is a King, this is an “absolute” pin and the pinned piece is not allowed to move, or it would put the King into check.
Chess is all about life and I encourage everyone on steemit to learn the game it's a game of passion and it's very interesting.
