If you focus on hero, you need to put all your skill on combat and finish all hero trial chalange everyday with minimum wounded. There you get max exp for the hero. Up hero lvl will be faster. Using hero to gain extra few hours build or other things but have to stay long garisoning isn't good decision. In few weeks your hero level will be left behind and when war come, that's will be problem.
Dragons are intelligent creatures who can be trained to serve as battle mounts and understand vocal commands.
