Essential Gadgets To Take To Work in 2018

in #gadgets7 years ago (edited)

It’s 2018 and you’re busy at work. You travel a few times a year and spend a few hours a day on the phone, and carry multiple mobile devices in your backpack. What are you missing?

Executive Mobile Headset
3 hours a day on the phone? You need a mobile headset. Free your hands - and your mind! The Plantronics Voyager Edge is the Armani of mobile headsets. It costs $79-$109 and will make you look like a startup rock star. Can’t afford it? Go for a $30-$50 headset.

Since I bought my first mobile headset a year ago, I’m not looking back. At work, I can walk around with my hands free. At home, I can do a laundry or pick an Eagles cd to listen to while on the phone. I can’t imagine holding my Nexus 5 to my ear for 3 hours a day.

Best of all, a 2 hour charge will set you straight for a week or more. Mobile headsets don’t use a lot of juice. They look cool and are very useful.

Mobile External Battery
You have a smartphone, tablet and a mobile headset. You’re on the train to a meeting in Tel Aviv - or on the subway to a meeting in the lower east side in NYC. Get yourself a mobile external battery. Anker, RavPower and other companies make terrific external batteries for $30-$70. Connect and charge. A good external battery can charge a phone 5 times over. Your airplane seat doesn’t have a USB connection? No problem, you’re set. No more landing at strange airports with your phone at 10% battery!

Mobile Charging Hub
You’re sitting at your desk and have multiple devices to charge. Get a mobile charging hub and charge everything. One plug and you can charge your phone, headset and tablet. Mobile charging hubs are cheap - $20-$40. They’re small and will fit anywhere.

Digital Audio Player
Listening to music on your phone is so 2015! Digital audio players let you play music in hi-res. Fiio makes incredible DAPs (digital audio players) for $99-$700. You will hear instruments and notes that you’ve never heard before. Use your phone for talking and browsing, and your DAP for music. Startup executives are audiophiles - we love quality.

Cancel the Noise!
Airplanes, trains and subways are LOUD. Cancel the noise with noise cancelling headphones or earbuds. Bose makes the best noise cancelling headphones, with Sony close behind. Turn it on and experience the magic of no engine noise. Long flights are more relaxing when you don’t hear engine noise.

I bought a cheap pair and upgraded to Bose QC20 earbuds and I’m not looking back. Flight and train rides are a lot more relaxing.

What are your favorite mobile gadgets and why?
