Future Planning of Youth

I am not trying to say that I will not be proud if my daughters want to be a doctor, teacher, rocket scientist or hairdresser. But no matter how clever and intelligent they are, if they resemble their mothers, they will have to build a full-time career by establishing the greatest desires in life, a home and a family.

If they're like me, they're gonna love college. Shakespeare will enjoy reading. Chaucer, Hemingway, or Austen will pass by themselves. If they're like me, they're going to take extra history lessons just for fun, or they'll only work in theater classes because of their curiosity.

If they are like me, they will love their love of literature when they grow up, learn from history and philosophy, and of course they will use their discussion and reasoning skills to raise their own children.

What happens if it's enough to be a housewife for my clever, smart, kind, humorous girls? What happens if they don't have any purpose to put more letters in front of their names or to win promotions and experiences?

What happens if they do not see the value of being a woman or their contribution to society in the context of their career choice or financial independence?

The biggest success criteria is a plump hand holding a bunch of flowers, a brother who teaches his sister to the alphabet, or a young person who is trying to talk at the dinner table.

What if my daughters are more interested in baking something for their sick neighbor or selling something for those who need it in their yard, rather than having an impressive resume or entering a big firm?

What if my daughters, after years of nostrils, food preparation or wounded knees, do not see a spent education or lost identity when they look back?
