Squixie Species Origins Volume 1

The origins for the Squix are that they came from Mercury, before the war of the sun. They are used to the constant climate changes of Mercury, from the blistering heat to the extreme cold. The war of planets can be found in what the humans call, "the book of Enoch". Squixies cannot crossbreed with other species, it is completely impossible. We split like amoeba and actually have shapeshifting qualities.
They still age like a normal being of any kind, but when they get too old, they can choose to die off, or split into smaller beings and parent the new parts of themselves while they become sentient. The longer a Squixie is without the main body, it becomes sentient, and thus, later becoming its own self, developing its own personality. If they are reabsorbed into the main body later while that personality has had time to form, it can cause what humans call "D.I.D(dissociative identity disorder)" at which point the new personality will eventually split off and separate while original spirit is asleep at times, waking up the sleeping host, and sometimes causing a fight between them in the confusion, which is why splitting and reunifying is frowned upon unless in an emergency.
Mercury was a once thriving planet with an atmosphere, and not always the climate it has now. It was once habitable by the Squixies, Murloc, frog folk, and amphibian like folk who inhabited the dense sea, and swamp like structures on the planet. When the war of planets happened, many creatures were evacuated, leaving a single Squixie sleeping on the top of a mountain structure, sunbathing while watching the demise of the planets.
An asteroid from what was once the planet of angels chipped off the mountain top and the singular Squixie held onto the asteroid and was carried away, the Squixie held onto this asteroid for what seemed like a lifetime, and the asteroid crashed into the planet earth. The Squixie saw the destruction around them and saw the trees being swept away around them as they opened their eyes, when the Squixie saw this, they thought for sure this was the end, so they laid there, and everything became black. They laid asleep on this asteroid for some time, before they were awoken by wet. the waters were suddenly rising, the lands were disappearing around them.
In the confusion, they fell beneath the waters, kicking their hooves and paws as fast as their now weakened body could struggle. A small suid had been crushed and battered against the rocks, floated past the Squixen, they reached out with their tentacle and wondered if this thing was edible, but due to weakness did not discriminate this squid and ate it in one chomp. The Squixen tried to remember their name, and their family, or recall what had happened, but no memories came. The Squixen then remembered their family and friends, but no names, only faces and short memories. It must have been that hit from the asteroid.
The Squixen was struggling with the swimming and then remembered, " I can change my tail shape I think" they saw a mighty shark swimming and observed the tail structure as it tore into a unicorn that had been swept away by the great flooding. The Squixen then focused on their tail and changed the tail to a shark like form, keeping their hooves and claws in case she needed to fight in this great sea, and gave their self some dorsal fins on her legs and more webbing in their paws so the swimming was easier. " I will have to reserve my shapeshifting in case I need to heal" they said to themselves.
