The average Venezuelan celebrates his birthday in this way:

  • The party is for 3:00 pm and they are arriving at 6:00 pm, and ended at 10:00 p.m. and it is 12:00 p.m. and now is when you start to get the thing right.

  • The guests arrive and the party hosts run out to take a bath and get dressed at that moment.

  • They invite you at the last minute by phone and they say: "Do not stop coming."

  • The few that bring gifts, bring them in an old gift bag that they had in their house, or in a plastic bag, or without wrapping.

  • Always happen that the first thing that ends up is ice and you have to go out and buy it urgently.

  • When the piñata is going to break, there are always more mothers than children, competing among them to see who gets the most toys and cabdies (Remembering their childhood?).

  • The cake is made by the friend of the godmother who makes some incredible and delicious cakes.

  • At the time of lighting the candle no one has either matches or lighter, and looking for the same old candle that is always used when the light goes out.

  • Some guest call and says that he will not be able to go to the party but that they keep his piece of cake.

  • The one that cut and deal the cake is usually the most stingy of the whole region ... and cuts the pieces so small that it is hard to feel the flavor of the cake and there is more than half a cake for the other day.

  • The birthday is of Manuelito, but since his cousin Juancito birthday in a few days, they sing the 'Happy Birthday' for both.

  • And finally, after they eat, they drink, they turn the house upside down (including the rooms), they ask if you may give them the piñata and the lollipop that was left intact for the next birthday of their little nephew who will be 3 years old.

  • When they are already super drunk ( zarataco is a synonymous expression used to in Venezuela ) and they are leaving party they say "thank you, everything was great!" ... and the next day they criticize all of the party! (the meat balls were salty, the beers were hot and the music was a pain).
