A funny tale of Max with Malaysia's Touch-N-Go

in #funny7 years ago (edited)

This happens to a friend of mine, who is a foreigner visiting Malaysia.

A little introduction:

  • You can explore Malaysia with many type of transports, but I will recommend you using a car - the roads are smooth, wide and car-friendly **wink .
  • Like many other countries, Malaysia have an intricate web of highways (tolled) or motorways (as they are known in some countries).
  • Malaysia highways have gone fully e-payment since 26 April 2017.
  • Among the well-known e-payment used is TouchNGo

The story:

A good old friend of mine (lets call him Max) decides to drop by and visit me.
An adventurer he is, he got himself a rented car from the airport and drives straight from KL to find me (so nice of him).
Well, that is when it happens...

Max drove straight to the toll gate without a clue that Malaysia had everything on e-payment. Expecting a payment box or a toll collector, Max found himself staring at an empty booth with the gantry lowered

At the corner of his eye, he saw this device:-

Being a foreigner to Malaysia and clueless on the local language (other than English), instinctively Max reach out his hand and start touching the sensor (thinking it is a touch-sensor to lift up the gantry).

I can only imagine the angry looks that he got from the car drivers that lined up behind his car.... LOL

Sort:

Haha classic joke. Malaysian roads suck :P

Bro, give them (roadworks maintenance) a chance. That's how Malaysian drivers are trained to avoid potholes with the sudden lane-switch (without signalling) - that will make another great story altogether :D
