i always viewed steemit as a nice and interesting experiment, a toy, but not viable, it's obvious for anyone with technical understanding.
the block reward in bitcoin has always been a well-thought-out game-theoretical device, it's not a good idea to transfer that concept to "human mining through posting", because it has always been obvious that this can be gamed.
